I am looking to put a Ford 9" in my 1979 Camaro and I was just wondering what model/year Ford with a 9" has the same width or something real close that would fit in my Camaro. I know that I will have to do some minor modifications when I put it in my car. If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...Steve

Here's a couple sites that list the size of the various 9" rears.

The early Mustang, Cougar, Fairlane and some of the other cars from the late '60s and '70s are about the same width. I know of a Mustang 9" Ford that was just removed from a '73 Camaro that already has the spring perches installed.

I found mine out of a 1969 Ford Bronco.

Thanks for those sites. They will really help. I have a GM 8.5" 10 bolt in my Camaro now and I was wondering how much power that the stock rearend will hold up to? If I decide to stay with the stock rearend, is it worth it to rebuild it to hold up with around 500 hp? I'm just considering all of my options...Thanks...Steve

500 HP will be no problem for the 8.5 if it is built right. These rear ends can run into the 9s without breaking.
