View Full Version : 68 camaro convertable at a local auction!
geb Dec 20th, 05, 05:15 PM I saw an a for a 68 convertable at a local auction her in los angeles that is being held tomorrow! I went to look at it but was disappointed to see that it has a lot of work that needs to be done! The floor boards look like they are rusted all the way, the trunk didn't open, and the full tank was strapped in with tiedowns? More work Then I would care or know how to do, but a local at this auction said it my go for very little money, anyway anyone intrested can email me and I will pass along the info.

great, with that pic we can almost tell it's a camaro. I would expect better pics before I spent a penny on it.
geb Dec 21st, 05, 08:03 PM I didn't take the pict and it's not my car! Just sharing info on the cars that i cant use on my journey to buy one that fits my needs! Heard it was going to go cheap so thought I would post it here, since it about helping each other. The auction was today and heard it didn't reach the $1,500 dollar reserve but that the owner has a lower bid offer to consider.

go2fast Dec 22nd, 05, 10:14 AM It's almost certainly worth more than that in parts.
geb Dec 22nd, 05, 11:00 AM Thats what i thought! Thats why I post it to share with the camaro forum. I dont have the room or time to part it out. It had what looked like a new top and 350 engine, ss emblems, and all the interior part but the rust scared me away fast being new to all this. I just wish I would have taken my digital camara to share better picts next time.

Shupee Dec 22nd, 05, 07:10 PM Just to set the record straight-- the car will bring more than it's worth. The car is located at IAAI in north Hollywood. The sale is every Weds. Not to step on any toes because I don't know where you're getting your info but I just checked and it's listed for the 28th of December sale and it's already up to $8275 on the internet part of the bid process. It's also listed as dealer only on the listing, no public buyers. It will be up for internet bidding until 12 PM the night before the sale and then the live auction takes place and they will start the bidding at the current internet bid and go up from there. NOTHING!!! GETS BOUGHT CHEAP AT THESE SALVAGE SALES!!!! This is a very big misconception!!! since I buy several hundred a year from them here's a list of a few interesting pcs of late-
1- 1967 12337 6cylinder body in Phoneix, no mtr or trns missing interior needs paint at best brought $7250
2- 1969 X-11 body (theft) decent looking roller, red once again no mtr or trns or interior, 10 bolt monoleafs. Z/28 emblems pre X code car but sharp eye clearly saw X 1 where back seat went someone in Ontario Canada pd $14,700!!! Pay the $400 in sale fees and go pick it up and you've got 16K +/- in a plain jane roller???
3- 1969 original 307 car interior burn (very bad) decent car 7K
get the drift??? there are no $1500 convertibles anymore- anywhere. Not wanting to sound like a smarta__ just trying to get folks to understand that these wrecks bring big$$$$
geb Dec 22nd, 05, 10:04 PM Sorry for the missinformation! But I had called the office yesterday and was told that the current offer was below the $1,500, the lady in the office may have read the info wrong! Shupee since you buy several hundred a year why don't you tell us about some of your great deals that you've bought in the past!

Shupee Dec 23rd, 05, 09:14 AM I buy mostly Jeep and 4x4 related stuff. Being a Camaro fan I always search for any Camaro's on the various sites. Unfortunately have never been able to buy any muscle cars worth the money. The internet buyers have eliminated any deals on the stuff, just to much exposure. You can buy stuff cheaper on E-Bay than @ these type sales. Merry X-Mas to all and good luck with the car next week. I'll watch it and post back up what it goes for just for giggles.
Shupee Dec 26th, 05, 09:13 PM Just checked tonight and it's @ $11,100 and climbing
