Does anyone have a photo of an installed shift stabilizer rod and bracket for the 67 Muncie shifter? I picked up the rod and bracket from Rick's but the mounting position to the tailhousing is not obvious.

Tks.

No pic, but the rod attaches to a bushing and the bushing bracket attaches to the upper left most tailhousing bolt(s). The rest of the shifter hardware attaches to the three holes on the drvr side of the crossmember.

Tks. The bracket is shaped and is, for lack of a better term, "flanged". I having a hard time orienting it.

The flange points towards the front.

And there are two shock absorber rubber bushings and washers on it at the tranny end.

And it is TIGHT up in there. You just may have to loosen your crossmember shifter mount and tilt it to get the rod in the shifter/tranny hole??

I forget which AND it is a pain....

There is a nice dwg in asm manual which I can fax to you if you wish.

As mentioned above flange forward- longside up. Let me know how it fits...need to buy/ intall one myself..originals hard to find!

Fortunately, I'm working a sub-frame out of the car so access isn't a problem. Engine will be painted this weekend...as soon as the paint cures I'll start assemble engine/clutch/rans and put them in the sub-frame. Should have it done sometime next week. I'll post some photos.

I have posted this before how I set my Muncie shifter up.

I set the "H" up so that it is "slanted" towards third gear.

I do this by adjusting my second gear rod, (in second almost at the cross-over), so that it is slightly below the cross-over and then adjust third gear the opposite so that it "slants" down towards the cross-over!

Not like this, I_I, but like this I_/
..................I.I................../..I

It only takes about a thread to a thread and a half or so of adjustment to ""FEEL"" how this helps the shifter cross-over at speed!

This and keeping my shifter well lubed has made me really like it!!
And I have two '67 muncie shifters!!

AGAIN, this is onna my old "shade-tree" feelie things here!!

PS., and you have to use a 1/4" or 5/16" drill bit to set the neutral "H" cross-over through the holes on each side of it's body proper!!
