when you see an item in ebay, the whole line in the address of your browser needs to be copied. set your cursor over the address line, left click until its blue or highlighted, then right click and use "copy" , the whole address is now in your paste of the mouse. Paste it in here and you are done. :)

Had a long discussion about this car with a good friend of mine last night, consensus is "maybe".........trim tag looks OK, if all of the date coded equipment is there, I think 33K is a STEAL for that car. No paper documentation hurts, but a car like that SHOULD have been bought by now, that's the scary part. Any one of the crooked dealerships around here could have bought that car and relisted for 10-20K more and not done a thing to it, that's why we're being so skeptical. Guess the only way to find out is to go and look at it!

If it's a real Z/28, that price is a steal.

Here is the link,

Is it just me or shouldn't this car be a non x-code car. I thought Norwood didn't start using the x codes until sometime in december. This car is a september car according to the trim tag.

He's got the body number listed as the VIN. I emailed him asking him what the VIN is so I'll post it if he replies. However, I believe with this body number (141539), it's probably September of 1969. Kurt of one of the other guys can correct me if I'm wrong.

The vin listed in the ad is "12437N0R141539". This is not correct.
Looks like the seller just copied the top line of the Cowl tag.

Looks like a nice car..especially if its real. But i sure wish they would fix the hood so it closed properly. Just a shame to see that on a car thats so nice.

It's a September '69 car (after the body number reset). Pretty car, but smog is missing, wrong exhaust manifolds, master cylinder and tire pressure sticker, and the spare tire is on the wrong side.

"-All customers are responsible for a fee of 0.002461% of the auction close price for an Inventory Tax; $50.00 Documentary Fee and a $145.00 Admin Fee. Out of State consumers are responsible for registering and paying applicable taxes in their home state. "

Inventory tax? Admin fee? How about a "sun is shining fee" IMO these extra fees in the fine print should be illegal.

I also asked the seller for the VIN, but received no reply. I kind of dig the flat hood look for a change. Yes, it does need manifolds master cylinder, etc., but if its real for that price, you'd expect a few incorrect parts, so long as its a DZ 302 with correct tranny and 12 bolt. If it is genuine, I'm with KZ, it should have been long gone by now. I bid on it early, and hoped to get the VIN to dig deeper, but to no avail. Might break down and call.

Hack resto.

In addition to John's observations nothing fits right, wrong tires, 67 mirror, missing spoiler braces, many overlooked details like missing lighter & door bumper, cheapo plug wires & missing shields, crooked radio buttons. Finish does not look good, rear stripes are way off.

Assuming it has the OE drivetrain [ad does not make that claim] $33,500 is plenty for a car that needs to be done over.

It is nice to see a standard hood and an X77 car left that way.

The picture of the rear spring looks wierd to me with a vertical through the spring in front of the rear end housing, also advertised as a 310ci, isnt that 60 over and pretty tired. And correct, the hood fit is pretty bad for the $$

Seller finally called me. Claims its a matching drivetrain- dz 302,etc. Asked him for the VIN, which he said he'd need to call me back with. Reserve is $29K, but he said he'd like ot get $33K. Yes, I noticed the stripes and mirror as well as the other areas. I stopped bidding at $27K, thinking that was a great deal.$33k sounds like a bunch, but I just don't know any more on the Z's. The X77's and X33 especially are a safer bet than a 401K right now!

I think $29'100. is a pretty good price for the car. It's not perfect or 100% correct. But how many cars are? EBay hype sells allot of them anyway. A few months ago, the reserve would have been $55k. Nice car you can enjoy and make it correct in time. If I was looking at it, I would want to see more info on how correct the running gear is?

I'm NEVER posting pictures of my car on here when it's finished just for that reason. I don't understand why some folks have to pick apart every single car that shows up on here.

I'm NEVER posting pictures of my car on here when it's finished just for that reason. I don't understand why some folks have to pick apart every single car that shows up on here.

As usual a whiny, gross exaggeration of what goes on. There have been thousands of 1st gen Camaros for sale on the internet and a very small percentage of them have been criticized.

Placing a car for sale subjects it to public scrutiny particularly when claims such as "THIS CAMARO IS IN IMMACULATE SHOW ROOM CONDITION!" are made. I never comment on cars that are not offered for sale.

If the person purchasing the car read this thread they have learned quite a bit about it FOR FREE and can go into the transaction having a good idea of the cars' shortcomings. If the car does in fact have the OE drivetrain the sale price was fair and commensurate with its condition.

Ask yourself this Mr Wilcox: How many hundreds of people have gotten screwed buying misrepresented Camaros on ebay? Do you really think the hobby would be a better place if guys like John Z [worked at the Norwood plant] and myself [30 years in the hobby, 15 in a business] refrained from making our observations?

My apologies for criticizing your comments. I didn't realize that 30 years in the hobby and 15 years in a business meant it's ok tear into someone's car. Don't bring in JohnZ's name, I didn't mention him. I have nothing but respect for him.

I realize I used your comments to make the statement I did, however, I really shouldn't have. My original, albeit misplaced, intent was to point out how much bashing goes on around here about other people's property, and it's just wrong.

I of course realize how many folks are deceived on a regular basis on purchasing these vehicles, and I hate that as much as anyone. However, unless the owner asks someone for an honest opinion about their car, I find it in very poor taste.

Best Regards,

You live in a dream world.

A few months ago several alleged high end 1st gen Camaros were sold to a collector for nearly $2m. Upon closer examination several of the cars have been proven to have been completely misrepresented. It promises to be a real mess since an auction company is involved.

This hobby, like others, has its share of liars, forgers, re-stampers and other cons looking to make a fast buck. An attitude like yours allows them to succeed.

I find that in very poor taste.

I'm going to let this drop, no good can come from the two of us arguing over the internet about anything. I'm sorry for my above comments in this thread, they should have been a PM if anything. I'll try to keep my posts to facts instead of opinions in the future.

The fact is, we all love our cars, and this hobby, and that should make us friends.

May you have a very Merry Christmas William.

If you're ever in Texas, I'll buy you a :beers:

I started this thread and I think personaly that the owner of this car has put a seriously bad coat of paint on it gone down to a nice shopping centre to get some photos for ebay, I would think that the buyer is in for a shock at close inspection,

Merry Xmas

I see & read (to an extent) treads like this one quite frequently on this web site. Most of the time it seems they are concerning a Z car & its true authenticity. I've ALWAYS been a CONVERTIBLE camaro man. I'm glad that every time I look at a 67 to 69 camaro convertible, I don't have to wonder "is it real" :)
Production numbers:

1969 Z28 = 20302

Convertibles

1969 = 17573

I see 1969 convertibles on the bay ALLLLLL the time, I know they're real. Everything about them isn't 100% correct after 30+ years.

Just a observation on this car, does the two speedometer screws on the face look to have been rusted? It kind of looks that way to me, could just be the picture?

The bottom of the car was also just spray-bombed black and the exhaust fittment is horrible. You'd rip them off in a second, especially with the clamps pointing down like that. I know Camaro prices are going up, but that's not a $30,000 car.It need way too much work to e worth that much. But somebody will buy at that price, just out of the gotta have it factor.
