I took off some adhesive backed window tint that was on the glass when I got the car. Now I can't get the adhesive off with regular glass cleaner. What can I use to get it (and the others) cleaned up without damaging the glass...Windex and Glass Plus don't work....

They make some adhesive cleaner called Acrosol or Dealersol that takes it off and it will not hurt the paint or interior parts. This is what the dealers use for new cars. You might get it from the dealer or paint supply house. You can also use laquer thinner, just be careful around plastic and paint.

Is this going to require a razor blade? Not exactly my strong suite...

I would get a spray bottle and spray the glass with the adhesive cleaner and let it sit a few minutes then scrap the glass with a razor blade. It will go faster than putting it on a rag and rubbing the glass with the cleaner.

Get a small plastic razor blade holder, Walmart has them, it may protect your fingers some.

Try Goo gone or fingernail polish remover, on an old white sock or similar...worth a try...if it is not too large an area.

they make this stuff called goof off, that really does the trick for adhesive. Just be careful around plastic. It comes right off in a snap with just a rag. Good luck:thumbsup:

Try WD-40 it is alot safer than the Goof - Off. If the W doesn't do it the Goof - Off will, that stuff is good but, like Pimpin said, be careful!

Mix a strong water and amonia mixture. Coat the glass good and let it set for a few minutes. It should start to sluff off and wipe clean.

I use Methal alchohol from my local hardware store in a quart can. I'd keep it away from paint though.

I had the same problem with my 69. The rear window and all side windows had this purple tint on them. I used all of the above mentioned ideas. Some worked better than others. Just be ready to use lots of elbow grease.
