This is a posting by Mrs. ept000 regarding one of Eric's Christmas presents.....

I want to let all of you know of the experience that I had last week with Jeff at Classic Chevy 5 Speed.

I called Classic Chevy 5 Speed last Wednesday afternoon, December 14th, and spoke with Jeff. When I called, Jeff was on another call and said that he would call me back. Okay. I really didn't think he would and that I would have to call back and go through that whole song and dance.... However, he did call back -- and it was in under 10 minutes!!! First major indicator that I'm dealing with an awesome company. Jeff was great to deal with. I had a print out listing the transmission that my husband wanted for Christmas (yes, he is spoiled....) but he hadn't indicated which one of the three he wanted. Oh goody, I get to guess.

So after a good 30 or more minutes on the phone with Jeff asking me various questions (some of the answers I knew, most I didn't - tire size? gear ratio? whatever...) we narrowed it down to the TKO 600 as the right transmission and I placed a tentative order. I told Jeff that I wanted to verify some information before I finalized the order, so I called Eric and said "Without asking why, what is...."

SIDE NOTE: Eric had talked to Scott from CC5S a month or so ago (who, by the way, had called in response to an e-mail request for information and spent 20 minutes on the phone answering all sorts of other related questions) and determined he needed the TKO 600 Road Race transmission. Eric was so impressed that a company would call him back and spend a large chunk of time answering these incredibly technical questions that he told me about it!! Who says the art of conversation is lost???? Anyway...

I called Jeff back to tell him we were off only slightly on the order. Jeff made the change and we were done (thanks to the VISA gods). I asked if the transmission would be here by Christmas and Jeff said that it should be there by the 23rd. Cool. However, here is the kicker, when we came home last Friday, the 16th, guess what was waiting on the front porch....Yes that's right a new transmission!! I made Eric help me carry the boxes in and no I'm not wrapping them. Well, maybe a bow.

I want to say thank you to Jeff and the staff at Classic Chevy 5 Speed for:
1) helping my figure out what I wanted to buy and not making me feel like an idiot because I didn't have all the information needed
2) letting me place a tentative order and then change the order
3) their outstanding customer service for getting the transmission here a week early

I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Merry Christmas!!

Norine

Norine..sweet present :) !

I actually bought Keisler TKO 600 but it was before I knew about Classic...Unfortunatley it was after the fact that I realized how much time they spend on these boards helping other Team Camaro people...my next gearbox will definietly be from them just for what they do directly for this site

PS-Do you have a sister ?

I hear nothing but good things about Jeff and Classic 5 Speed. I will definitely be buying my new tranny from them when the car is finished? Maybe next year.

Thanks for taking the time to put the experience down, it very helpful to know about a company up front and that type of customer service is hard to come by.

I think I will show my wife this story and next Christmas maybe I'll get a big box on the front porch. :D Your Husband is definitely a lucky guy!

Hey everybody, I wanted to chime in to say that I do know how lucky I am. Norine and I have been together for twenty two years, and I'm only thirty eight. In that time I have gotten tons of great stuff (lots of car parts) every year for Christmas. The transmission is definitely "over the top". Norine knows her parts for sure! She has suffered through late, cold nights of racing at Baylands in Freemont, CA when it was still open, long nights in the garage, and on and on.... Don't worry.... There will be some good stuff under the tree for her too! Merry Christmas to you all, and I hope that at least a few of you are lucky enough to have a marriage as good as mine!

I'm glad to hear this all worked out for you with Erics Christmas gift. I thought I was the only guy lucky enough to have a wife that understands cars and me. I must admit figuring out me is easy though! Thanks for the kind words and make sure you call us if you need any help installing that tranny for your husband!
Merry Christmas!
Jim
