Anyone outside of Clill like to guess where this set up will call home. Not a Camaro or at least not yet

"SS" would be a good guess.

HawaiianCamaro
Apr 15th, 04, 06:30 AM
DjD, Yes it will be on the road in June, No it wont be in a dragster/airplane or in a SS, But then SS could be driving it in June though but then again so could TW. Oh it will be RED that you can take to the bank tongue.gif

Forgot DjD alrady knoew what it is being dropped into. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

That's what I was referring to, "SS" the person, not a "SS" car.

What a collection. Must be nice.

If I did not have the most wonderful little boy and girl waiting at home for me, I would be jealous of that guys cars.

As far as we know...this will be the first time this system has been tried [domestically]. Some European exotic car has a similar system, but we're in the test tube here trying it on an LS1. The guys at Banks Turbo say it'll work, but I'd be curious about Jody's prediction...LOL. Keith Roberts [Robert's Racing engines] will tune it on his out-of-chassis dyno, so keep fingers crossed that it's ready for the 7 days of Power-Tour.

Steve,

I hope it works! And I hope you have it ready for Power Tour. I love a guy who "dares to be different". The plumbing should be "exciting" to say the least. How far along are you or is that a current pic?

Ya know Steve, I think the heat here has finally gotten to you. tongue.gif

Man you gotta fill me in, I'd love to see this in person.

LVCamaro

That picture was taken 2 days ago...LOL. It's about 45 days til Power Tour, so I pucker a little more with each passing day. The plumbing is an incredible feat, but I think we have it figured so we can close the hood. After-cool and ventilation system is no bargain either. I'll send you another pic in a couple weeks. Charley just called to give me some more skeptical remarks. When this '57 convertible goes around his Camaro, we'll see what he has to say...

what are the specs on the turbos just out of curiosity? They look pretty small, but if you're basically just running 2 cylinders off each one I suppose they don't have to be that big.

Talk about quick spool up!

boodlefoof
Apr 16th, 04, 06:58 AM
check out this little turbo! I'm thinking that when I build my next go-kart... one of these is going on it!

Apr 16th, 04, 07:16 AM
All I can say is that will be a tuning nightmare. Are the turbos running off two cylinders? I thought it would be, one cylinder, one turbo. That should be pretty cool though if you can get 'em all running the same.

I'd love to hear that run...it'll sound like a
C-5 Galaxy. You can never have enough hair dryers! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

sorry, need to get a new glasses prescription. Is that 8 turbos I see! Goodness, I should have looked closer before! I thought it was just 4!

HawaiianCamaro

Its will be running 8 in set in two banks of fours. One per hole.

Apr 16th, 04, 06:25 PM
That is crazy!! Any estimates on HP and TQ? I have no idea what to think lol. Hope it all works out in time for the power tour graemlins/thumbsup.gif Amazing..

LVCamaro
Apr 17th, 04, 03:48 AM
I sent another picture to Jeff of the turbo manifold and the LS1 engine to post, since I don't know how to post pics on this board. We can only guess about HP and TQ until Robert's does the out-of-chassis dyno tune. My guess is 750HP and 650TQ will provide a decent fuel burn rate without things getting too hot. Turbo-lag should be minimal, but again...until dyno tune, we're guessing.

camcojb
Apr 17th, 04, 04:07 AM
Need pics!!!!! LOL!!!!!! I can always post pics too in the future if you need. 750 HP sounds very doable to me. Has he picked a boost number yet?

I'm dying to see the intake plumbing! Will there be an intercooler? Does the radiator slide in front of the motor or ?

Jody

HawaiianCamaro
Apr 17th, 04, 08:49 AM
I asked LV for a overhead shot. As for the intercooler and radiator it will be a tight fit unless he mounts them on top of the car!!! graemlins/beers.gif Wait that wont work either its a convt. graemlins/waving.gif

The HP and TQ forecast is just that...a "forecast". We won't know for sure until it's on the dyno at Robert's Racing. Depending on the turbo boost [somewhere between 15-20PSI], we could get more like 900HP. The pics of the intake plumbing will be another week, or two, and will be mind boggling. While we don't have an intercooler planned [it would interfere with the cosmetics/beauty of it all],we will be plumbing a 110V AC system and locate the evaporator cores in the fender well and use it as a pre-cooler for the induction air. The radiator will be on a tilt under the turbo manifolds and in front of the turbo exhaust outlets, however it will be covered with a shield/cowl and pretty much out of sight. Stay tuned boyz...it's gonna happen and be really sweet when it's all chromed and polished. More pics later next week... :D

Will do, Tyler. The car is at my buddy's shop in Wisconsin until completion of the turbo system, then it'll reside here in my LV shop [Arville/Russell Rd].

Holy crap! I just glanced at your web site pics...you have some major issues, yourself. LOL

YouthTronix
Apr 19th, 04, 03:15 PM
very nice indeed. 900hp is quite a bit, but I would think with a setup like this, you could EASILY get much more than that. But I guess you dont really need anymore than that. Just curious to know if you are holding it back for some reason.

LVCamaro
Apr 19th, 04, 07:13 PM
We're building it more for looks than power...more of a novelty thing for the show grounds, instead of the 1320. There's lots easier ways to make HP than this. We hope to print/video 1200HP on the dyno, then detune it for a more reliable setting.

YouthTronix
Apr 19th, 04, 07:32 PM
yea thats what I was thinking. Just curious :D
