I believe the '69 Firebird did not have the gills in front of the rear wheels.... the '68s and '67s do. The opposite of the Camaro.

69s have the gills behind the front tires. And dont know if the speedo will work or not but they are completely different. For instance, my 69 Firebird speedo is a 160mph speedo, obviously different than the Chevys.

no front end anymore. the owner took his tractor and ran over it. there is a column and passanger door still usable. both rear quarter glasses. thats it. nothing else is savable. its a sad sight. this guy said he drove the car into the junkyard! like all the other cars he has. almost all is junk now because he moves them with a huge bulldozer. usually if the car hits something or gets stuck that dozer just rips them in half. everytime i go into that junkyard i feel like crying becuase there is some extremely rare cars in there but like the firebird....junk. here is the worst part. some younge guys came in there one year and stoled nearly all the vin#'s off the cars. this firebird still has its tag.
have a question. the column in the firebird had the iginition in the column itself. is this something firebird did in 69? i know the 67-68 camaro's have the iginition in the dash. just curious.
please excuse my spelling....i'm typing on the fly right now. i have somewhere i goto go.
thanks

Mechanically, it'll work fine - all speedo heads are calibrated the same way - 1000 cable rpm is 60 mph indicated. All the other variables (axle ratio, tire size, etc.) are handled by the speedo gears.

Yes, 69 Firebirds have the key in the steering column.

The differences between a 69 and 67-68 Firebird are the same differences betwen a 69 and 67-68 Camaro. The 69 'bird has the pronounced 1/4 panel lines extending from the wheel well just like the Camaro. The 69 'bird had the key in the column just like the Camaro. The 69 speedo wont work in your 68 though. Even though it's similar in appearance, it's actually quite a bit smaller and has a totally different mounting set up. If you're building a custom gauge panel, then yes it'll work.If it happens to have factory gauges in the dash (stacked gauges) by all means grab them (and P.M. me!).The 1/4 glass will fit your 68 and the doors are the same as a 69 Camaro.

The 69 Firebirds had the option of a clock, or three vertically stacked gauges in the same place. Most have a blank plate there. It’s on the right side of the instrument panel.
