I have a '97 SS automatic. when i first got it, i would hear a bang and feel a jolt everytime i stomped it. Sears told me it was the transmission mount that had broken. They replaced it and it was fine,no movement. then it broke again about a week later. Sears replaced it for free, but said the next time it broke i would have to find a heavy duty transmission mount or they wouldn't fix it. well, it's broken again and i wanted some advice on what to buy and where to get it. Is this a common occurance with these cars, why does mine keep breaking?

Your engine mounts may be worn out. If you do a polyurathane mount for the tranny, you need to do them for the engine as well. If you only put on a poly tranny mount, your motor will be flexing and your tranny mount will try to stop all of the movement. This isn't good. This will eventually crack the transmission housing, and you will have an expensive repair on your hands. Check on www.camaroz28.com for more detailed information on motor mount choices for your car. It is one of the best LT1 websites.
