I have a 1967 camaro with an automatic trans. Has a console with stock shifter. Like the horseshoe shifter much better and was unsure if there is a way to convert. If not, what recommendations would you have to change out the stock one and replace leaving the console in place?

If you want the horseshoe shifter you'll have to change the console to a '68 and then change the shifter. It should just bolt up and change the linkage. You should have to modify or fabricate anything.

67's had a linkage operated shifter, and it fits through a hole in the tunnel just like a 3- or 4-speed car. 68 and 69 (staple, horseshoe, whatever you want to call it) shifter is cable operated and just mounts on top of the tunnel with bolts and nuts.
So, if you want to change over, you'd have to cover the existing hole in the tunnel, drill holes for the 68-69 shifter bolts/nuts and the cable, and then get a new trans selector lever and cable mounting bracket.
It can certainly be done, but they are two totally different shifter styles and there will be "some assembly required."
