Seems like a real nice engine but geez that's alot of money.

I have the same engine in my malibu. I have the 049 heads but would look for 840's and pull that sucker for that kind of dough. A nice 502 would fit SWEET in the Chevelle for that price.........;)

You're right. By the time you bolt on the intake, carb, distributor.water pump.etc, you're way up there...more than a complete ZZ 502 crate.

I know that's what's interesting. I marked the auction in my favorites to see what it brings. May have to pull mine.....:D

Dude, for 10k??.......Thst's a nice slice. The way the market has been, as long as you have the docs that say the car had that motor, you'll still get nice $$$$$$ if you ever decide to sell the car.

Look at all the 427's with corvette numbers selling on ebay.Lately I've been seeing them around 11-18K for rebuilders. This numbers game is getting out of hand.

The Malibu DIDN'T come with that engine, but I found mine at a yard sale of all places, and believe it or not only paid 350 bucks for it 3 years ago. It is a L-78 that came out of a 69 Chevelle SS, I put it in my 69 Malibu. As you can see it is now a date correct engine for my car but that's about it, the car didn't COME with that engine. That's why it really wouldn't hurt my feelings if it was yanked and sold.

It would be super easy to "clone" my car but that is a whole nother topic......

Yea, I understand supply and demand, but it's starting to drive the hobbiests out of the hobby. Soon only collectors with good financial backing will be able to restore these cars. I got lucky and bought a rust free running 69 for $3k, but I always wanted a big block car untill I started looking at the prices people want for rebuilder.
