Don't you need to restore the engine bay also?

I didn't see where it said it was restored but at that price I don't think he's in a hurry to sell it.

I would be sick if my engine compartment looked like that after a frame off restoration. Maybe it is an older restoration?

For a car to have complete frame off resto,(second sentence in the sellers discription) the engine bay would of been done at the same time. It appears as though that the engine bay is a a clean daily driver. The seller states: " he only drives about 300 miles per summer and the care never sees rain or snow". So you have to ask yourself why is the vinyl top having problems??? Which leads to the question, what other problems might there be?? He also states that the car is in better than mint, however his states it might need a new paint job. The car is very nice, and appears to be an RS. Geezer is right, seller is in no hurry. Price imight be to high for this car, you may need to spend $5k-$6K or more to truely get in mint condition.
Just my opinion!!!!!!!!!!

When I looked at the add I was curious as to what would make the car worth 30,000, especially since it wasn't a Z28, vert or even a SS. I was expecting to see something like 12,000 original miles or something. After reading it was a frame off restoration, I couldn't believe how the engine bay looked.

I hope he didn't pay someone top dollar for the frame off.

Come on guys!! Find something legit before picking on a car. It's obvious the guy embelished and the $30K is just a price to prod higher best offers...

IMO it really looks petty to pick on every other ebay ad under the pretense of helping by warning the public!

Well said Dennis. I agree it looks to be a negotiaion ploy. He can always come down in price but it is real hard to go up.

I sure people will rip my car apart if I ever put it on EBAY or if I ever get it finished. :-)

I was trully curious as to why he was asking 30,0000 for a 327 car. I just thought it was way overpriced. I thought 15,000 would have been more reasonable.

If you are correct in that he is just trying to get offers, I can see that.

I hope I am not offending anyone with 327s. I just thought the value order would be something like COPO, Z28, SS396, SS350, 327s and sixers. 30,000 seems way out of the ballpark, but maybe I am wrong.

If someone does go and look at it, please pull off the damn ford caution fan sticker. Geeesshh I think if anyone that puts that ugly sticker on the fan shroud thinks they have a restored car.

With the prices that have been advertised lately, you can't blame a guy for going fishing ... And notice, he often states his "opinion", which is not fraudulent ... It only takes 1 enthusiastic buyer to make a deal ... BTW, that must be some special kind of Harley to make him part with your 1st Gen camaro !

what's wrong with the engine bay?
it looks like the engine in a car that actually gets driven. the only part that annoys me is the gauge install under the dash- whenever i see wires and what not hanging under the dash of an otherwise nice car, it just drives me insane for some reason.
sure- he "says" it never sees rain and "only" gets 300 miles a year put on it, but isn't that EVERY old car that's up for sale these days?
and who knows- maybe he doesn't want to sell, but figures he has to try to make it look good to the "significant other" that wants that "old car" out of the garage. and if he does get the asking prioce- hey, he can get another one and have $$$$ left over.
"hey, babe, i tried, but no one would give me what it's worth. remember how much that one kinda like it sold for at that auction on tv last winter?".

That engine compartment dosen't look that bad, especially for a driver. It looks more like he's a bad photograhper than anything. Looks like just too much light and too much flash, looks more like glare. I'd bet it looks alot better in person. I've done this, finished my engine compartment ad wanted pictures before I finished installing the front clip. Wel, I used too much light with a flash and my pics looked like hell. They actually looked alot like these, but looked great in person.I don't know if this is a $30,000 car, but it looks like a very nice one.

I guess the definition of frame off restoration is what is throwing me off. When I think of frame off, I think of a car where every nut and bolt it touched and painted. Everything that is bad is replaced.

I guess you could technically perform a frame off and not touch the engine bay.

If a car is a true frame off (or as I think of one) and is one of the more desirable cars (Z28, etc.) I can see asking 30,000.

However, this gentleman claims that this is a frame off and wants 30,000. So the engine bay should not look like a daily driver, which makes me wonder was this a true frame off?

I am sorry but the engine bay looks really bad for someone asking 30,000 (unless it is a COPO).

That IS NOT a FRAME OFF restoration with the engine compartment looking like it does. Theres many of cars out there that have nice paint jobs however when the hood is raised look bad so to speak.

CAN YOU YELL any louder? Don't get all up in a twit about it! I meet folks every car outing/show I partake in (more than 1 per month) that refer to a paint job and new carpet and wheels as a frame off. It's one of those terms like folks getting new rims. A rim is part of a wheel but everyone says rims...

i did a "frame off" restification of my Nova a few winters ago. from the time i pulled the hood, to the time i had the frame and anything else that bolted to the underside - gas and brake lines, rear suspension, gas tank, etc- off the body only covered about 4 hours of time- gotta love a low mileage Cali car...
and that was starting with a running car that was totally together and not having any air tools working all by myself in a shop with no heater in the middle of winter, and ending up with a body with nothing bolted underneath it. it was back together and prowling the streets with a rebuilt and upgraded front suspension and totally cleaned and detailed undercarriage from bumper to bumper less than 3 months later. and my pretty engine bay and undercarriage looked much worse than the engine bay of this particular Camaro after i drove it 5 miles in a rain storm. but i didn't care.
so to say a car that is built like an early Camaro or Nova has had a "frame off" restoration doesn't really mean too much- it just means the frame was off..
