Bought this alledeged set of 69' survivor smog hoses and 992 Check Valves on EBAY. Long hose reads 3942448(or 446??), Has four ribs in total (two thick ones with a thinner one on outside of thick pair) all running paralell with hose length. 70 Z-28 long hose has different # end with 476...I'm curious WHY????
Short 69 hose with Three Ribs has No part #, whereas 70 short hose ends with 478.
Obviously I dont have 69 assy manual.........can someone confirm correct numbers, IF short hose usually has # silkscreened, and why 69 and 70 hoses would be different part #'s...............

Thanks,

Chuck, the '69 long hose was the "476", and the short hose was 3932478, and both were silkscreened. The rib pattern identified the supplier.
:beers:

How long is the 448? do you want to trade for a TH 350/400 gear indicator? :)

This 3942446 is 27" + long, but with one end coming with non wittek clamp it may have been cut??? It is much longer than the small block (LONG) 476 Hose......so I'm still interested in finding its ORIGINAL application
This 446 hose has Two heavy/thick ribs with a small rib on each side...four ribs total
The shorter unmarked hose that came with it is 5 3/4" long and judging by the wittek impressions, appears to be uncut
Short hose has ONE thick/heavy rib, with thinner rib on each side, TOTAL of three ribs..........

I've been using a heater hose for my b/b with A/C until I find the correct one. It is 27-1/2" long, so the one you have will work. Don't know the correct number....Bill Hodel might be able to help. The smog tube extends over the valve cover at about cyl 5, which is unique to 69 b/b with A/C. The compressor interferes with the standard location curving around the front of the cylinder head.

As a side note, the pass side is unique, too, as the evaporator box interferes with the ability to install the tubes at cyl 6 and 8. Therefore you install a little fitting into these two holes prior to installing the manifold. Then after the manifold is in place, the back two tubes press fit into the fittings.

Chuck, I'm interested in the hose if you decide to part with it. I was just kidding about trading my gear indicator, but I really would trade or buy. I know a couple of years ago, I told you about the little groove worn in the body by the line to the column, because I know how particular you are. However it could be filled with a little epoxy, and it is not visible once installed.

Unreal;
Are auto gear indicators hard to find?
I've got an original that I'd practically give away to a good restoration home.

I don't know how rare they are, but Chuck has been looking for a pristine one for a couple of years. I'm not sure I have ever seen one on ebay.

Not trying to get in the middle between you and Chuck, but I would guess the whole setup...indicator, bezel, and fiber optic would bring $50, or so on ebay.
