I bought a 1969 Z-28 new in Feb. 1969. It is Hugger Orange with black stripes and with no vinyl roof. The dealer (Kapota Chevrolet, Tionesta,PA. ) told me that color combo normally had white stripes. Was this statement true ? The car is still in existence, but I no longer own it. Also I just gave the window sticker too the present owner and I thought the car was built in Lordstown Ohio.

Welcome zoom-28!!,

My Feb. built Hugger orange Z has white stripes with no vinyl top. The black stripe Hugger orange cars I've seen have black vinyl tops.... I think the dealers statement is correct.

'69 Camaro's were built either in Van Nuys, CA or Norwood, Ohio.

The current owner is probably on cloud nine right now. Finding an original window sticker for a '69 Z after all these years is next to impossible....
It's cool that the paperwork is with the car now.

What did you pay for the car in '69? Did it have a flat hood?

z28Doug nice to hear from you. It has a flat hood. I believe the sticker price was $4100.00 approx. I had a trade so my diff. was around $2800.00 I also gave the 3Rd. owner all my sales papers and the emission stuff, minus the pump. The Z has 67,000 miles on it, and most were with 4:88 gears installed. The car has 140 mph. speedo, walker chambered pipes( on it when new ) console and lots of speed parts.

It was possible to specify non-standard paint. I know of a Le Mans blue Z/28 special ordered with black stripes and no vinyl top. The first line of the window sticker should indicate special paint and the body tag would not have a paint code.

I believe a 140 speedo in a Z/28 might be 1 of 1!!!
They were part of the COPO 9737 package, and not used on RPO cars. Must have been an assembly line screw-up. Where are you JohnZ?

Do you have a copy of the window sticker?
Grew up a few miles from there, over towards Franklin......
