I cant remember where this came from , I think it goes near the headliner maybe by the rear veiw mirror but I'm not sure.
My 68 has been apart for a couple of years I was bound to forget something.

Looks to me like it belongs to the steering column. I think that fits under the steering wheel for the turn signal switch.

That's sorta what it looks like to me as well, except it's a bit long for the steering column cam.
It's definitely a spring clip of some sort.

It looks like the snap in bracket that holds the one end of the heater core in place. It slides onto the sheet metal and the other side, the pipe end, screws down.

Is it green because it's tarnished copper, or is it painted green? That is, if that color is green to begin with. ;)

JZ is the winner!!!!!!!!!!!! It is used in the heater box to hold the heater core in place. It is one of two. Hard to come by if lost. Way to go JZ!
