I've got a '67 Convertible Camaro that needs a new sub frame. Thats what my body man says. Can coupes be used as donors? Are all sub frames interchangable from '67 thru '69 on camaros? If a camaro or Firebird are not available; then what other GM year models can be substituted? I'm sure this has been covered before, but would like to poll the experts again. Thanks!!

Yes a coupe can be interchanged, and for the most part, there is no difference between 67 and 69(small cosmetic differences). I cant remember them all, but the 1st one that comes to mind is a Nova will swap.

They can also be repaired. A search will show more than you dreamed possible. However, there's plenty of replacement frames from 1st generation camaros/firebirds/early nova's. I bought one that I am detailing for $175 with power steering, control arms, etc in perfect condition. It's usually the body mount holes that rot. Repair plates can be inexpensively made and welded in.

Subframes are interchangeable. My Oct 66 Van Nuys convertible does not have the large 3" hole on both sides between the bumper brackets and the cross member. My April 67 Van Nuys hardtop does have the 3" hole which I believe was in all of the 1968's as well.

Mine was built the same month.
Here is a photo. I drilled the two smaller holes for a tow bar.
