I am going with an aluminum radiator. Does anybody have any suggestions. HOTRODSRJ Jan 1st, 06, 07:03 PM Yes I do. With that kind of hp and subsequent heat generation....you will need the biggest most efficient radiator you can find.....and lot's of coolant and air flow. First, the highest efficiency radiator out there is the Fluidyne three-row (1" elongated/fluted tubes), all aluminum radiator. It's simply the best one for this application. A secondary choice would be an Alumitech, BeCool or PRC crossflow radiator. Second...make sure you are running a high-flow waterpump and an OVERDRIVE pulley set up. This will aid and abet cooling efficiency out the waaaazzoooo! Coolant flow is KING! You will thank me later. Next....the best fans. Either dual Spals/Derales to cover the back of the radiator or a Mark VIII fan (make sure you have room...see here.. http://www.geocities.com/smithmonte/Auto/MarkVIII_Fan.htm Because of the electrical demand of these fans..... buy a 105 ish amp (high idle output) alternator. These fans will typically take at least 30amps plus...and you want at least 70 amps at idle to muster all the wattage needed these days. If you have higher electrical loads such as air, big stereo, yadda..yadda...yadda... then bump it up to a 140 amp high output model. Good luck with your project and let us know how it works. ENP Jan 1st, 06, 08:31 PM I changed my water pump to a weiand TeamG water pump and added March serpentine pulley system. I have a 100amp 1-wire alternator that I will be using. I will check out the Fluidyne radiators. Right now I have a cheap northern radiator with tranny color. 2x67rs/ss Jan 1st, 06, 09:47 PM Might want to check into a Ron Davis Radiator I just received mine last week and wont get to use it for a while but if it cools half as good as it looks.. I will be running a 555 with a Meziere electric water pump and don't think I will have any problem!Check out the web site http://www.rondavisradiators.com/ HarleyD67 Jan 1st, 06, 10:10 PM I'm running a Griffin GRI-1-55242-X 2 row 1 1/4" tube. Weiand Team-G water pump. PowerMaster 140amp alternator. 2500 cfm Flex-a-lite "S" blade fan. All great performing low cost items. On an 80* day I'll see 180* on the road, and 200* in traffic, and I'm running @530 hp. |
