What letter do I need for a 1968 !st week of Nov 4053 carb

I believe that would be an A.
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-0 is Jan. through Oct.
Nov. is A
Dec. is B

My 4053 is a 912. ('69, 1st month, second week)

You would need an 8A1.

I'm going off memory here. Double check me before you spend the big bucks!!

I would disagree, and someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but his car is an early 68 so it was built in November, 1967. Wouldn't it be "7AX" instead of "8AX"? And further, since the 4053 carbs were built in batches, the chances of having a date code of early November ("A") on this carb would be improbable. I would say a carb dated in the "79X" to "70X" range would be correct. What's the assembly date of your engine? The carb date can't be after that.

Ah, in that case never mind! It was your initial posting that was confusing.

What letter do I need for a 1968 !st week of Nov 4053 carb

It reads like your car is a 68, built the 1st week of November.

So what do you think Ed, 89X Or something like that.

Yes. I would say a month or even a bit more would be fine. For instance, my 68 is a 05D car and my carb (a 4053 also) is an 833 (3rd week of March, 1968). you can see there's a 2 month span in there.

Engine assembly date doesn't matter - the carb was installed at the car assembly plant; only has to pre-date the car's final assembly date. :)

Thanks KURT is there a span of time for all parts (water pump, heads, carb, intake) are they all abou a week to a month apart or does it vary depending on the part.

My car is 11d the block is K12 and V1I19

All depends on the part. Castings normally are close since they are made right there with the block.
Carbs can vary.
