Just wondered if any one can tell me about spraying The por 15 Paint and if I should try a certain tip size for it such as a # 1.5or 1.6 or bigger.I was looking at painting my rear end and front sub frame and wondered if there would be a preferred tip size to do this job and what product can you use to thin this since I have seen where if sprayed it has to be thinned, any help is appreciated.

If you are using HVLP the 1.6 tip is adaquate. You can thin por up to 10% with lacquer thinner or acetone. Remember to close the can after pouring as this product is moisture cure. I usually place a piece of sanran wrap over the open can and then hammer on the lid. Otherwise the lid will weld to the can. The product is just that strong.

I want to echo the saran wrap trick. I do that all the time with POR-15. I had can that lasted two years without drying up or welding the lid on.

Not meaning to sound like my Dad or anything, but I just wanted to also remind you that when spraying POR-15, they recommend wearing a respirator for fresh air as breathing that stuff is potentially dangerous... FYI

when I sprayed it, I thinned it 8:1. Worked great. You can also change the texture of the finished product (flat - gloss) by varying pressure.

Not to nag... But KWIK is correct! I sprayed it on two seperate occasions and wondered why I was getting really ill after doing it? Then I found out that the hardening agent in POR is cynide. Make darn sure to wear a resporator and plenty of ventilation.

Good luck,
Tom
