Guys,

I plan on doing a wheel and brake upgrade real soon. After looking at what everyone else has done, i still have a few questions and would like your opion on wheels.

Brakes:
Im going C5 Z06 calipers with C4 13" raybestos up front and 4th Gen (93-97) calipers and rotors out back. Was thinking of ordering the speedtech brackets.

I may got hydraboost, but right now, I just want to see if these are good enough on their own.

Ive read a few places that an 88 s10 15/16 master cylinder is good for C4 calipers and that a C5 setup may want a 1" bore (88 s10 power MC or similar). I believe the touring classics kit has the 1" MC.

Can anyone tell me if a 1" bore is what I want and if theres any hard to keeping it if I go hydraboost later? Also, has anyone used this http://www.classicperform.com/NewProducts/MCPV-1.htm yet? Hows that compare with all the pieces seperate?

Wheels:
Im thinking 17x9.5 275/40/R17 5.5" backspacing rear
and 17x8 245/45/17 front 4.75" backspacing front

Any ideas if my big brakes and big wheels will have any problems together?

Lastly, Id like your opinions on some wheels:

wow, long post... thanks for your help guys

Well Jeff I would have to pick wheel choice #1. Oh wait that, I guess I'm pretty partial to that one since it is my car. The wheel and tire size you are thinking about is the exact sizes that I have and I love them. Also Billet Specialties wheels have outstanding quality. Good luck on your choice's, I know how hard it can be. I am trying to decide which brakes I would like to do also.

The answer is no. Initially I was running a 15/16" bore MC and changed over to a 1 1/8" MC. Kind of wish I hadn't changed since the 1 1/8" is very sensitive. I would recommend you call Paul at Hydratech and discuss possible MCs for your application http://www.hydratechbraking.com/

Guys,

Of course always measure, don't just order what works for everyone else. With that being said I would go with a little more BS on the fronts 4 7/8" - 5". I went with 4 7/8" which is what DSE recommended for 1st gens when I ordered Budniks through them. They (DSE) use this BS to run 245s up front with no problems. The rears are fine, but again measure before you order.

Were you saying that you were using 15/16th bore MC on manual C5 calipers? Or were you talking about that you had changed master cylinders when you went to hydraboost?

thanks

I agree with Rocketrod that you should give Paul a call if Hydroboost may be in your future plans. (He may convince you that you are better off with stock discs and Hydroboost than with big brakes without Hydroboost.)

Also, Paul (who seems to know his brakes) spoke very very highly of the MCPV-1 master cylinder (and he has no ties to that company) as an extreme bang for the buck.
