My defrost lever is broken. Actually it is not the lever but the plastic slider that keeps the lever on the defroster panel. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?
I ordered a repair kit from Rick's but it was just the lever, I need the slider.

68 - no air.
Basically the defrost lever, goes through the panel with the writing on it. On the end of the lever is the chrome knob. The piece I need is a plastic slide that connect the defrost lever, to the panel with the writing on it. When you slide the defrost lever back and forth, this plastic slide that I need, keeps the defrost lever connected to the panel with the writing on it and allows the lever to slide back and forth but not forward or backward.
Does that make any sense?

i am confused by this plastic piece? i have not seen one
but, the factory defrost lever is fairly weak, aftermarket replacements are beefed up some
i recently replaced my defroster lever and there was no platic piece that held the lever in the face plate
so i would believe that the lever itself is broken

Actually the lever is in one piece, the defroster works fine. I can move it from side to side and it works. The problem is that if I push it backwards, I can almost push it all the way through the front of the heater control panel lense.
My repair kit from Rick's was for a new lever, but what is broken is the piece that connects the end of the lever to the lense panel.
I called Rick's and they don't sell it. 69 is different so that may be confusing some.

The actual unit is at my cousins, but YES that plastic piece on the bend keeps it in the heater control lense. The repair kit is only the metal rod with some screws and washers.
I thought it was on the end of the rod, but it makes more sense that it is located at the bend.
Looks like I might have to find the entire arm with the slider piece.
