I am having a hard time welding in the replacement panels on my 69 RSSS. While I do not profess to be a great welder, even with a good quality Miller welder I constantly get alot of spiting and spatter. Joints are clean. Today, I noticed while welding on some original Camaro metal it welds just fine. I remember reading once that someone thought that foreign sheet metal has impurities and makes it hard to weld. This just came to mind today as this is what I have. Question: Has anyone had this problem, and if so do you find U.S. sheetmetal to be better? Thanks.

first make sure your welder nozzle is clean and free of weld spatter (that will cause the wire feed to not work effectively) then make sure your feed is fast enough and that it is hot enough...if all this is fine and you still have spatter, maybe it is the sheetmetal.

rotorheadS76,
I have had that problem but not nothing on the scale that you describe. Did you check the gas?

I wonder if its the thinner guage replacements giving you some problems.
I'm going to weld my quarter on next weekend. I'll let you know if I see the same problem.
