Can someone explain the smog pump date codes to me? My car is an 04D...what type of date code would I look for? Thanks.

Thanks for posting a reply...call me stupid...but I read through that before I posted on here and I still don't entirely understand the Julian calendar decode information. I know it stands for the 306th day (on the CRG page), but how do you know when this was calendar wise? I guess I am not seeing the big picture.

The Julian calender starts Jan. 1st of each year. Say your pump is stamped 03891S. The 038 would be the 38th day of the year and the 9 would be '69.
The 1S is either the assembly location or 1st shift or both. That one I don't know for sure.

The casting number on the back of your pump should end with 1149.

To make sure I understand this correctly...if I am looking for a correct smog pump for my 04D car...I should probably look for one that the first three digits fall between 060-090? Would that be correct?

Should precede the CAR's assembly date by that amount; the A.I.R. pump was installed on the engine dress line at the car assembly plant, not at the engine plant. :thumbsup:

According to my quick estimation you should look for a 077-105 assembly date code.
