Ok, I don't know the legality of this question. I am restoring my 69 camaro. Just to let you guys know the vin, both hidden vin numbers and title match the car. My question is where can i find new vin tag rivets. Also, my vin plate is really pitted because of my car being outside for several years. Is there a way to clean up the vin number.

Rivets are available on ebay, Hemmings, and probably the usual vendors, Rick's, D&R, Ground Up etc. Nothing illegal about replacing that upper dash panel as long as you are not swapping VIN. Of course you will need new rivets to do so.

Don't know any way to clean up the VIN plate without making it look doctored. Personally, I would just leave it alone.
