You guys seen the 2009 Camaro Concept?.. I don`t think they did as good a job as the Mustang or Challenger retro cars. Especially the nose of the car..but it does look mean, nevertheless.

Might want to look at the 5(at least) other threads in Bench Racing on this car.

Here are the styling cues that I see. Front fender looks like it came from a 3rd generation camaro. The door looks like its from a 68 and the quarters look reminiscent of a 69 with the gills or whatever they are called. Personally, it hurts me to say this, but I like the looks of the Challenger a lot better because I think it looks more retro. And let me make it clear that I am absolutely not a Dodge fan, not that there's anything wrong with being a Dodge fan (wink..wink).

Can't we keep discussion of the concept car under one or two threads?

Hey, Cool, A new Mustang with Camaro slyling cues and emblems.
The Challenger definitely looks better. For that matter, so does the Mustang.

We are moving all the Concept Camaro threads to the 5th Generation section, trying to keep them bundled up. If someone just comes into Bench they wont notice the 5th Section yet but we will try to keep up. :)

Hi guys.

LS1LT1.com is my site, I saw Camaros.net as a referrer for a few visits so I thought I'd check you guys out.

I've also started a site called http://www.5thgen.org that is keeping up with all the latest news about the concept, production timelines, where it looks like it will be built, etc.

I recommend bookmarking and checking in there every week or two as I google and yahoo search for news articles daily. As soon as GM give the official word they're building it, I'll have the story posted.

the new concept is neat, but it would be even better if the exact dimensions of the 69 model was used, with modern construction underneath, i.e. rack and pinion steering (manual available) five and six speed manual trans, the vortec 4.3 iron engine workhorse as the base engine, and a solid rear axle. If a unitized construction were used, the weight penalty and compromises of the original subframe design would be eliminated. IRS (independent rear suspension) might be nice for the top of the line SS? or Z-28? optioned cars, but a simple leaf sprung rear or four link would be fine. No torque beam or converter floor hump, please.

I really hope GM rethinks the design and gets it closer to the original camaro..WE WANT MORE RETRO! Not that the new design is bad, but it does nothing for me at all as a "camaro" where as the new Dodge gets my blood pumping and I am not a Dodge person.
