I have a 1967 Camaro. My trim tag reads fine until the cowl.

The number one is supposed to be an implied number in the option codes but my cowl tag looks like this

12G 3***
5** where * is it refers to a letter option.

The problem with this is that there is no spacing between the one and two options when there should be and that there is a missing option where the number one is what does that mean??'

Also according to CRG when 2G is used indicating D55 a center consel compartment. A standarded transmission should be listed with it including the M35 which was standard for the car(sorry i forget what the letter was supposed to be stamped as but i believe an M)

Another problem i have is that the 5 is in the 4 spot and i was told and believe the car was originally an SS 350 which everything points to and i am in the process of recovering an SS 350 block and restoring it but is it worth my time, beacuse i am not sure if my cowl is messed up or someone has tampered with it or what.

**An intresting note i found a trim tag that is the same as mine. Which is claimed to be an SS it has the same number in the same spot except it doesnt have the 1 but also something i forgot to mention is that my car was a standard on floor shifter not a column which the M35's usually came with or they were otherwise stamped as an option but that option is also missing.[/IMG]http://x82.xanga.com/7cdb3b036173528616997/b20077833.jpg

The first character isn't a 1 it's an L for Fold Down rear seat. Fisher didn't use the number 1, it was implied that anything infront of the 2 was part of the 1st option group. If you don't have a 2M code then the car was originally a 3 speed manual car, not a powerglide car. 3 Speed manual transmission was the base transmission on all Camaros, except the Z28. Power glide was RPO M35 and it was an optional transmission.

If you don't have a 4 code that usually indicates the car was originally a 327 210HP base car (assuming you have a V8 VIN). Note there are some exceptions to that rule depending on when the car was built.

It could be an L30 car too.
But in any case, post a pic or the actual data!

Its a norwood car. Also there is no hole or spot where a clutch pedal went and it was assembled in June of 66. Also the correct stamping for a manual 3 speed was B. Which is missing

It was built June of 67 (late model year) not 66. Assuming its an 8 cylinder its a 327/210HP LF7 car with a 3 speed manual transmission and no center console.

1 = Chevrolet
2 = Camaro
4 = 8-cylinder engine
37 = coupe body
7 = 1967 model year
N = Norwood, OH assembly plant

Decode for body number: 135062

06B = Built the Second week of June.
67-12437 = Standard Interior Coupe.
NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio.
717 = Standard Blue Bucket Seats.
Z = (A50) Strato Bucket Seats.
D-D = Car Color is Nantucket Blue
B = Interior paint is Blue
Options:
1W = (A02) Tinted W/S only
2S = (U73) Antenna Manual right rear
3S = (Z23) Interior Decor group
3K = (Z21) Deluxe exterior trim
5Y = (A39) Belts All Deluxe

The problem with that is that my sequence number indicates that it is an earlier camaro.

What's the VIN?

If you don't want to post the whole thing, at least give us all but the last 2 or 3 digits.

The car could have been a powerglide car and not a 3-speed stick. If there is no console (as in this case), on a NOR car there is no way to know if the car was a powerglide or a 3-speed by just looking at the cowl tag.

As posted on CRG's site: http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#67Codes

"2M (M35) - PWR GLIDE AUTOMATIC (NOR - only applied when D55 was included)"
