This Camaro was assembled in Van Nuys CA (VN). They did not use X-codes. The only way to tell a real Z from VN is with paper documentation or matching number engine or trans along with other clues. Try a search on real Zs in tag team.

It is a hugger orange V8 Camaro coupe with standard black interior built Jan 69.

That VIN is actually in the correct range for an LA January car. Yours appears to be a Norwood Car, prior to X codes.

Its an LA car. vins were not in sequence with Norwood cars.

Check for original white paint on top of cowl. Would have been visible in front of cowl panel.

Could you please elaborate on how they did the vins different. Could I have a car that is 1234 from norwood and someone else have a car 1234 from Van nuys?

Morganb540,
that is real close to an LA Z that I presently own and even closer to an La Z I use to have, take someone that has knowledge on these cars with you or buy the Z/28 fact book by Jerry MacNeish. Good luck.

Morganb540,

Make sure and take the advice of 3forme. Education is a must for a purchase like this. I wouldn't pay a "factory Z/28" price for a Van Nuys Z without original documentation.

Keep us posted,

Doug

It would be possible to have a Norwood VIN that would similar to a LA VIN, but the difference would be the 'N' in the middle of the VIN on the Norwood car whereas the LA car would have an 'L' in the middle.
example: Norwood car VIN 12437N506555 LA car VIN 12437L506555

And the VIN's serial numbers are not going to coincide with the same time period at both plants. They had different production rates.

Van Nuys 250/day (VN built other cars, GMAD plant)
Norwood 912/day (Chevrolet Only plant till April 69 when Firebird was transferred from Lordstown, Ohio)
