I'm on the verge of buying a date correct Holley factory remanufactured/restored 4053 carb. What do I need to do to install this? Just yank off the old and put on the new? Does it need to go to a professional to tweak the settings or should it be fine out of the box?

It should be fine right out of the box. A lot of guys here run 72/76 jetting, but I would recommend bolting it on with the factory jetting and tuning from there. Get the floats in the ballpark before you bolt it on, set the idle mixture screws to 1 turn out, bolt it on and fire it up. Be ready for leaks around the fuel lines. With it running, adjust the floats and dial in the idle mixture with a vacuum gauge (or highest idle speed).
