Is this engine a good deal. I'm looking to replace my 350 for more power. It seems like a great deal. I called a few local shows to get estimates on rebuilding my current 350 to a 383, but they want at least $3000 and want to reuse many of my old parts. I'm not sure what brand the intake and cam are (it says, "s custom series," what is that?

NOOOOOOO, Myke run from these guys. Do a search and you will find alot has been said about this outfit. I personally had alot of problems with their stuff! They still owe me money! The engine was far from advertized. The old saying holds true for them "if it seems to be too good to be true...", I think you know the rest.

Check out two posts in a search: "New stroker engine.." and " Engine builder in VA". Maybe they changed their MO, but you should be informed of past problems!

If you're looking for "new" and not "reman" engines maybe you want to look at what GM offers ? ZZ4 350, ZZ 383, and long or short blocks.

ZZ383/425hp at Summit was $4800 or so, ZZ 350 short block was around 2100 ? + s&h

Yes, the 383 ZZ4 is awesome (and pricey). I'm very close to ordering it- I'm just stauling I guess. I do want and will not settle for a great engine- I'm just shopping around to find the best deal. That ZZ4 is exactly what I want. I've read a lot about Sallee Chevrolet, are they the real deal?

I just checked out Classic Industries for the ZZ4. They have a "Fast Burn 385 Engine" for $4495., is this the same one?

And don't forget shipping by truck, might be cheaper to see if local dealer could order for you ? ( if you go this route)

No it isn't. The fastburn 385 is a 350 CID motor rated at 385 horsepower. The ZZ383 is 383CID rated at 425 horsepower.

O.K. I see- thanks for pointing that out BPOS.
It looks like I will be buying from Sallee within the month.
