Very real, and now as I understand, very illegal on Ebay..Think I saw this several days ago in a thread here. Real tag, nice color combo.

Hope someone is tracking the "loose" real tags like this one so when it shows up on an "all original numbers matching" car next year we will have indisputable proof of the fakery.

Doesn't have to be a fake tag to be a fake car.

Not sure what you are asking but it appears you are asking the difference between a real tag and a fake.

In this case, no one is saying the tag is a fake. In fact, this one is genuine. However, it merits being "tracked" because it is separated from the car, which was probably crushed, meaning if it shows up on another car, then it is obviously not original to that car.

So then this is off a stolen car? Even if the car will never see the road again, it's unethical to be selling this trim tag. You know the only reason someone is going to buy it is to pass off a base model car as a true Z-28. You are enabling someone to commit fraud against someone else when they sell their car with this trim tag attached. If the intent was not to sell the car and deceive someone into thinking this car was a true Z-28, then there would be no reason to change a trim tag, hence no reason to buy one.

now that sounds like something i don't want to go through! i guess the body was stolen?

the body was acid dipped, when it returned the owner said nothing was left of the body, so he gives the car away and keeps the running gear and title, i buy what is left and go to trantser the title but somebody has applied for a duplicate and transfers it from his name without him knowing it, i have found the car with my vin code on it but cant do anything about it, unless you all have any suggestions

I'm confused. Why would someone want a title in their name when you have the car and the VIN? What did you buy, the runnig gear and title or the body? If you bought the body, then why would someone else want a title to a car they don't have? Maybe it's just late, but your post is kind of unclear to me.

If the title from the previous owner is in your possession then it doesn't matter how many duplicates are out there. His name was forged for transfer without his consent. Illegal as all hell. The car is legally yours. Get the police and go get it.( IT IS THAT SIMPLE).

The last owner is probably the one who will get screwed. You can't give away the body of the car, and keep the title. Title goes with the body, not with the drivetrain. If he kept the vin tags and cowl tag then that just makes it worse.

No one is going to win here. You will end up with the drive train (aauming you have a bill of sale with the vin info on it) the body and VINs are headed for the police lot, and probably the crusher.

Something is fishy here, and the anchovies haven't arrived yet.

I noticed you have the drivetrain for sale on this site in the classifieds. What is the VIN?
