Could someone help me decode the numbers off my '69 396 block? From the front pad, there are two sets of numbers:

10301CLB
118168108

Due to their faint nature, its possible I've messed up a digit or two, but hopefully not!

At the back of the block, I see 3969854, which should be "402 68-72 Pass, Chevelle, Camaro 4 BC, 2 & 4 Bolt Main". So does that mean its an original 402 (.30 overbore 396)? If so, can I tell if its 2-bolt or 4-bolt from the outside?

What are the meaning of the numbers on the front pad?

Many thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

Thanks,
Dave

Yes it original 402(300HP) and I am almost sure its 2bolt main. I had one of these motors years ago. Also its 71 (CLB) vintage and anything before 1970 is a 2 digit engine code.

Third digit in the VIN derivative is probably a "B", not "8"; if so, it's out of a '71 Chevelle, El Camino or Monte Carlo built at Baltimore.
