I am in the middle of a frame off restoration of a '68 RS. I believe this car to be pretty rare based on the options. It has ac, pw, ps, disc, rear defrost, tilt wheel, remote trunk release, console gauges, fold down rear seat, fiber optics, Multiplex stereo (four knobs in the console), 327, PG. The car came with protecto plate. There isn't room on the protecto plate for all options this car has but they sure look original. Unfortunately the original motor was long gone but I found a date coded replacement with correct codes and correct carb. Completely rebuilt the motor and balanced it. Decided to replace the PG with TH350. All new wiring and ac system.

I had the subframe powdercoated along with every other front end piece. Had the car repainted to original red with white bubble bee stripe. (the car just got out of paint jail - a seven month ordeal)

Just started on the delux interior. Also decided on a cowl hood which replaced a rusty SS hood. I'll also be replacing the 3:31 gears with 3:73's. The car is looking pretty fine and should be finished in time for summer 2006.

I would be curious how many cars were built with this many options?

remote trunk release

NONE - with this option...

'Comfortilt' and 'Multiplex' were fairly "rare".

Nice list of options!! To the best of my knowledge, Camaros did not offer the remote trunk release option. Firebird did offer it.

Yep there is no trunk release except on Firebird, the fold down seat is pretty rare tho as well as the tilt, pwr windows, fiber optics too. In fact thats an amazing collection of 'rare' options all on the same car. The folks here and in CRG www.camaros.org would love to have you post your VIN and trim tag and tranny and axle numbers in here for tracking it. Photos are also more than welcomed.
Welcome to Team Camaro too :) The :beers: are on Hawaii Jeff the moderator of the Tag Section. He is on the big island.

I've only seen one or two that loaded. When it has pw & light monitoring & multiplex, you're talking unusual. :)
I'd be curious to see that POP, if possible. My email is KurtS2@peoplepc.com. And congrats, sounds like it's coming together!

It's my understanding that the remote trunk release was a dealer installed option. I also forgot to mention the speed minder and tich toch tach.

When was it built, and what color was it inside and out originally?

What does the cowl tag say?

That sounds like a cool car...I had an all orginal 68 RS/SS BB car with all the options you have and then some and I sold it and regret it! At least it was to a fellow Team Camaro member but still...it's nice having power windows...a tilt wheel, air conditioning and a AM/FM 8 track player when you are cruising :) Restore it, keep it and enjoy it ! Chances are you will never come across an original car with those opotions again

Maui- I also have a fairly well optioned 68 RS and Id be interested in comparing details with you at some point when I tear into the car. As it stands now it has PW, tilt, delux interior, multiplex stereo that still works! Also has the fiber optics on the fender but the rear brake indicator onthe package deck is gone. Front discs. Thats about it for now- good luck with your project. dave

I recall that car. Ordered by a GM employee, IIRC. Someone added SS emblems to it.
I note about 20 options on it, has to be several more (wheels, tires, etc).

Wow, you may be onto something there. I was told the car was special ordered by a GM employee but who knows. When I purchased the car it did have '69 SS emblems on it, but removed them and welded the holes. I don't care if people want to build clones but I am personally not into them. It also had a 350 engine in it but I found a date and correct code engine along with correct distributor and carb.

Did anyone watch the Barrett Jackson auCtion today? A '70 Chevelle LS6 convertible sold for over a million bucks!!
