View Full Version : Factory correct 67' conv. Consensus Please...
PLT-1 Jan 16th, 06, 04:52 AM I’m having a terrible time with remanufactured “door window weather strip kits” or “window fuzzes and scupper cups”. I am referring to the weather strips along the top of the doors both inside and outside; they come in contact with the window as it is rolled up and down. OK, here’s the problem… I have purchased two different sets ( one by “repops” and one by “PUI”) and both sets have been “clipped” and “contoured” in such a way that on the doors, the fuzzes will fit on the outside of the window and the scupper cups ( for the rain??) line up with the inside of the door. I have a clear “fit and finish” photo of a 27K original 67’ FB conv. and the fuzzes are on the inside and the rubber “scupper cup” is on the outside. I believe the fuzzes go on the inside?? Can you guys w/67 cars please look at your doors and check in w/the location of your fuzzes and rubber on you doors and quarter sections. The guys at PUI said many cars had them either way. ... This does not make sense to me??... I'm thinkin' fuzzy on the inside??... Thanks to all who check in!!....
PLT-1 Jan 16th, 06, 04:58 AM Take a look at this car... The parts I receved are opposite of the parts shown here.. this car has 27K original. Whats on your car????... This is getting to be a serious problem... I can't get a straight answer from repop manufacturers... Thanks to all....

36j1967 Jan 16th, 06, 06:17 AM Yes, the fuzzies are on the outside of the glass and the rubber gutter is on the inside of the glass? Are you saying that what you have as re pops will not fit in this configuration? I've used both brands you mention and while obviously having a repop fit, with a little work turned out OK.
blue ss Jan 16th, 06, 06:23 AM I will look at mine (dont recall the rubber like that),this eve. let you know in the a.m.
PLT-1 Jan 16th, 06, 09:07 AM ..The parts look like they will fit, I just don't think it makes sense that the fragile fuzzies are on the outside and the "weather resistant" scupper/gutters are located on the inside??.. Then theres the fit & finish photo of the 27K car that shows the fuzzies on the inside???.... What is correct?.. where can I find a set w/the fuzzy inside and "rain gutter"? on the outside... Mass confusion on this issue....
L6Ragtop Jan 16th, 06, 10:13 AM Mine are the originals and the fuzzies (what's left of them) are on the outside and the rubber is on the inside.

DElsner Jan 16th, 06, 08:25 PM In the photo you provided, the "tougher" rubber channel on the outside of the window includes a slim rubber strip where it meets the painted surface on the top of the door. This is functionally correct, as it would help keep water from entering the inside of the door cavity by both the channel and the "lip strip". It would make no sense to have the fuzzies on the outside of the window if the parts you have are manufactured in the same manner. Unfortunately I have no pictures of assembled 67 convertible to verify this.
zbo2 Jan 16th, 06, 08:47 PM i always thought that the fuzzies were on the inside glass part, and the rubber "wiper" was on the outside to channel the water away. think about it.........if the fuzzies were on the outside they would stay wet for a while after a rain and everytime you rolled the window up and down they would streak the window. i don't ever remember that happening. but what the heck do i know.....i'm just poor folk
PLT-1 Jan 17th, 06, 05:04 AM yeah, so the confusion continues??.. I will see if I can email a few tech dept.'s and see what happends... I really don't want to beat this issue to death but, I really think the scupper rain gutter should be on the outside and the fragile fuzzies belong on the inside... I figured this project would get really easy after the paint,.. boy was I wrong...
KevinW Jan 17th, 06, 06:04 AM Not sure about 67s, but I have original 69 interior door and qtr panels and the rupper scupper is attached to the inside panels and all the camaros I took apart in my youth had the fuzzies on the outside.
PLT-1 Jan 17th, 06, 11:32 AM strange man... I guess I will have to get use to the idea of the fuzzy on the outside...
