I am looking for a FI setup for my bigblock, and I noticed that if you're buying the manifold, rails, TB etc from Holley, its only about another $500 or so to get the ECU. Since BS3 and FAST run into the thousands, it seems pretty tempting.

The only downside I can spot offhand is that it needs an additional module to control low-impedance injectors, so with a large blower, I'd need to add that module and my own injectors later.

Other than that, are there significant issues I should know about with the 950 compared to the more expensive FAST and BS3 solutions?

Thanks!

Holley has a new injector driver box out fyi, it is much lower cost, smaller, totally weather sealed, and plug and play with existing MPFI harnesses. It is PN 534-195. It is on-the-shelf, but when I look it up in Summit they don't show it. I'm guessing it will be around $200 from them.

The key to any EFI system is proper tuning.

GMPP uses Arizona Speed's Marine TPI system, but I can only guess that their decision was motivated from a profit stand point (cost to purchase as well as warranty claims in field support, not necessarily top performance). I have heard a lot of people really like the Holley 950 Commander set up (in SBC applications), not so much for it's raw performance but because of it's user friendly interface in programming (which is probably more important in overall customer satisfaction than peak numbers).

Personally I believe you can not beat a carb and manifold with runners to suit your driving style for performance and ease of maintenance. The EFI will yield better mid range efficiency, and starting, as well as a smoother idle.
