I've found one of the coveted "772" fans and it has two bent blades. Are these restorable? If so do you know of any shops that can tweak the blades back in shape?

I wouldn't spend alot of time/money on your out of balance blade. I bought a pristine one of ebay a couple of years ago for $35.

I also bought one for $35.00 on ebay with a good clutch 2 years ago but I wouldn't hold my breath on that happening. I got mine right after it was listed for a buy it now. They go for big bucks now, commonly over $200.00

Good luck finding a decent one for that price now.

They are bringing 125.00 and up now.

Nice 772 fans with a clutch are fetching almost $300. I was following auctions for 4 months before buying mine for around 270. All high performance original parts are crazy right now.

Why is everyone so crazy over a 772 fan? Jerry MacNeish states that a large majority of 69 camaros got fans that weren't even marked...I see these sell on ebay for 50-75 dollars. Seems eveyone gets caught up in the number business.

I enjoy the numbers game. It at times can be:

1-frustrating
2-expensive
3-elusive
4-time consuming
5-an obsession

BUT,
I enjoy the hunt,
Doug

PS My original fan on my Camaro is not stamped.

So true a bout the numbers game, last week ebay had nice looking seven blade for starting bid of ten dollars, no one bid on it, i got seven blade at small junk yard for ten dollars with good clutch on it.

Don't get me wrong, I play the numbers game too...I have been 3-4 years piecing together my DZ 302 for my car...but when I get to the fan, I could care less...maybe if I had a COPO I would worry about that, but for my Z28...I think a plain old non-numbered fan will work just fine:)

The L78 and L89 had the 772 fan and I bet the Z28 guys are driving the price up on these.

I have seen nice, rebuilt, and original 1111499 Distributors and 837 altenators selling for over $1500. WOW!

I finally got a good price on ebay ($70) for a rebuilt, correct casing, fan, and repo pulley restamped 837 altenator for my recreation L89 Camaro. The guy weaseled on me. I paid him immediately w/ Pay pal and ended up with negitive feedback. He wanted more money and refused to ship until. I'm a BAD buyer now. I guess I deserve it for dealing with the devil!

Jerry MacNeish just rebuilt my 309 master cylinder. OUTSTANDING! Dont know if I will ever install it, thinking about hanging on the wall like some trophy buck! Phil
