I have started a frame off on a 67...

The car is all apart and I am starting to clean and order parts....

I ordered the aluminum body bushings then realized I needed the poly ones as well....the original rubbers were all but gone.

Without buying another set of stock bushings to get the metal sleaves any one know where I can purchase the metal sleaves alone ?

My real problem is the fact that the aluminum and poly bushings are a different thickness at the number 3 location, off by 1/8".

My thoughts were that the subframe and rocker should be in the same plane.

With the poly bushings being the thinner of the two I have to ask which is correct? In other words the aluminum bushings are the same thickness at locations 2 and three but the polys are 1/8" thinner at location 3.

Will start posting pics soon..I'm sure this will be an adventure !

I no nothing of solid bushings, but when I bought my energy suspension poly's a year ago, the "installation kit" was listed as a separate part #, the kit included all the nuts bolts washers and sleeves

I run solids on my cars. Just put one biscut on top of the mount, one under, install bolt with washer and tighten down. Nothing to it. Either use solids or polys, don't try to mix and match.

Thanks for the the replys...

The aluminum kit has 6 bushings...the instructions said to use the old biscuts as the bottom with the aluminum on top thus the reason for buying the polys...

If I were to run solids on the top and bottom then do I need 2 solid kits as they are sold in kits of 6 ??

On mine I just run the aluminum bushing between the frame and body with a slightly shorre bolt and a large washer. Make sure the bushings have the locating rings on them to insert into the mounting hole in the sub frame to keep everything in place properly. Some kits come with 6 biscuits to sandwich the frame like stock, but the Comp Engineering dosen't.

The reason there are 6 bushings (Competition Engineering solids come as a kit of 6) is because there are 6 mounting points between the subframe (and radiator support) and the body.

Two up front (radiator support), two at firewall mounting points, and two under the front seats mounting points. They are designed to be sandwiched between the frame and the body. I left the radiator support solid bushings out and will be using the rubber type like factory. The bushings have a slight lip that fits into the subframe mounting holes to prevent them from moving. I did not use a rubber bushing underneath (inside the frame). I just bolted them together with larger than stock bolts/washers.

If I understand your questions correctly, I believe I did nearly the same thing. Try looking on Year One's website or in their catalog. They have the metal sleaves available to order separate from the body bushings.
