Hey guys, i have a chance to purchase a complete 1968 396 325hp, it orig. came out of a Impalla. It is currently running and drivable with a power glide in a truck. It is all factory and seems untouched since '68.
Would it be a good one to get?
What would be a fair price?

Tin brings $50, High Torque Delco starterat least the $35 core charge, Oval port heads go for $500, crank sells for another $500, Intake and carb will bring about $100 all on e-Bay. That assumes your buying it for scrap. If it runs I think a $750 would be a fair initial offer, but expect to go up from there.

I sold that same motor,all original ,apart for inspection,STD bore,Heads,intake,crank,rods,block,timing cover,oil pan,carb,dist.,etc about 2 and 1/2 years ago for $1500.00.Motor was never decked ,still had the vin number on it.Needed to be taken to a machine shop,but guy was real happy to find it this way ,,,,,Dan
