I am relatively new to this forum and have already learned a tremendous amount from you guys, thank you!

I wanted to post some numbers about a 69 Camaro that I purchased last year. It is an RS/SS with the L78 option. I really have no reason to doubt the authenticity of this car, but I would like the opinion(s) of the experts here in this forum.

I have posted below the numbers from the cowl tag, VIN, and engine. Please let me know your thoughts. I am interested in checking to see if the dates for the engine make sense with the body and VIN.

COWL TAG:
ST69 124376 NOR335923BDY
TR 712 10 10 PNT
05D X22D80

VIN: 124379N649XXX

ENGINE:
CASTING: 3955272
CAST DATE: D10 9
STAMP: T0417JH 19N649XXX

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I am not one of the resident experts on numbers, but I am sure you will get a better response if you post some clear pictures of your car and cowl tag. ;)

Check: http://www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-camaro-trim-tag-decode-1969.asp
to decipher the trim tag.

Looks like the car was built during the 4th week of May, 1969 (05D).

The engine cast date code indicates it was built April 10, 1969 (D109).

Those dates look like they're the correct sequence for a Norwood car, and the stamp matches the VIN. Looks correct to me as long as nothings been re-stamped. The experts here will need pics to tell you that.

Steve and Kevin:

Thanks for your posts. I have pics of the cowl tag and VIN, but the pad is very difficult to get a good picture of. I'm not sure how to post pics on this forum, so if someone can offer help, I can email the pics.

Thanks again,
Phil

To take sharp close up pictures of your cowl tag use the macro setting on your camera. On the majority of cameras the macro setting is designated by a flower symbol. Your camera will likely have this as a setting either on a menu or one of the control buttons. I find it helpful to turn off the flash and use a drop light to illuminate the tag from above to get a clear picture. A good close up of the block stampings will also confirm if your block is original to your car.

As for posting your photos read what Team Member http://www.camaros.net/forums/tm.gifBonzoHansen has to say about Posting Pictures (http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=57687) and Photobucket.com Free Image Hosting (http://photobucket.com/)

Thanks for the guidance Steve...

I'm going to attempt to post a pic of my cowl tag. If it works, I have some good pics of the car on my computer at home that I will post later.

So, if this works, a pic of my cowl tag should be right below...

Nice. The inside part of your grille should be painted silver. The part inside the chrome.
