Hi, ive owned a 69 ss rs camaro since 1988. it is a los angeles built car 124379l5060XX ... the car has correct vin on the dash and under the cowl panel. It didnt have a cowl tag when i bought it ( i have found the previous owner on here and it wasnt there when he bought it). I do have the protecto plate which if i remember properly does show it to be a 396 325 hp car with th400 ( i think thats what it decodes as havent looked at for a few years) I do not have original motor ..although 396 block that was in it was correct date code for car based on vin ( block was decked) ...it was tossed long ago. My question is... what value does the lack of cowl tag ( being a los car ) have on the car ?? and does protecto plate make up for this ?? anyone out there know who or how i could get the cowl tag (original or repro??)The car is virtually rust free.. mint floors ..trunk subframe etc ..quarters are a little rough but not from rust. Trying to decide what route to go with car in its rerestoration .. all stock or resto mod or ??any help and opinions would be appreciated. Thanks Ryan
Ps im not trying to "fake out" this car or anything of that nature ...i see all the debates about tags on here... but if by some chance i could find the tag that belongs to this car ..would it real;ly matter at all ?? Seeing its a la built ( no x code ) car ??

It doesn't really matter. The Trim tag on the LA cars really didn't denote any options... just colors.

What's the VIN? I'd like to add it to the database.

Hi, vin # 124379L506063 looks like car was cortez siler black interior originally 396 325hp th400 12 bolt 308 non posi. airconditioned ... rallysport according to cutouts in rearvalance and holes in front inner fenders for rs arms to pass through. Where is this vin database ?/ is it something everyone has access to ?? i have another x11 car vin and trim tag info from car i sold few months ago ..would you like that info also?? ( generic 307 car not much specila about trim tag)

The CRG (www.camaros.org) keeps a VERY detailed database of first gen Camaros. Their site it great to read through and very informative.

I, myself, keep a registry of 1969 LA built Camaros. I started it a few years back to try and learn more about how the cars were coded and other nuances. Some of the stuff has been defined since then.. but I still keep maintaining the database (its easy and interesting to me).

Drop me an email or PM and I'd be happy to discuss it with you. ;)

PS - thanks for posting the VIN. I'd also be interested in where you are located (City, State).
