View Full Version : Question about air bags and alignment???

Guys,
I'm seriously considering running the Air ride shockwaves with the air bar setup in the rear...
Wouldn't it be hard to keep your car wearing tires evenly though? Especially in the front where it would seem that changes in ride height would affect camber therefore affecting tire wear? I mean, if I go this route should I just have the car aligned at a specific air pressure then only drive the car at that pressure? What if I want to run it hard around corners or take it down a drag strip and need to raise/lower the car for whatever reason, would it just start tearing up the tires real quick due to the difference in camber?
Thanks for any help,
Donnie

You would need to get it aligned at ride height. Changing the pressure in small increments would not hurt the alignment. You can stiffen up the suspension by changing the pressure ( in small increments ) and it will not change the height of the car enough to hurt it.

You should consider that a first gen Camaro has a fair amount of bump-steer. So raising or lowering the car would change the toe-in by quite a bit. A pair of tubular upper A arms like DSE, Global West, or Speed Tech, would increase positive caster helping cornering geometry, and also reduces bumpsteer.
