View Full Version : Fiat with cobra motor ? 1968
DOUG G Jan 20th, 06, 02:58 PM Guy at work found a fiat miata<sp> with a small block motor in it. Has the word cobra on valve covers and owner doesn't know much about the car.
Anyone with knowledge about this model ?
JHunter Jan 20th, 06, 03:53 PM Fiat miata?
I've owned a Fiat Spider and I've seen Mazda Miata's, you sure its a Fiat Miata?
When I had my spider I heard of some guys putting V6's and 8's in them, not real popular in the fiat crowd though. I'd love to see some pics if it turns out to be a Fiat.
DOUG G Jan 20th, 06, 07:34 PM I'm waiting too.
This is what I was told and found nothing doing a search.
pdq67 Jan 20th, 06, 08:41 PM Bet it is a Fiat 128 with a Ford 260 or 289 Cobra dressed motor in it..

68rs406 Jan 21st, 06, 12:53 AM anythings possible. theres a guy that races with the group we race with that has an mgb with a 355, its gone 10.0's best to my knowledge, but he runs 10.50 index class, its fast and consistent as hell, and he wins alot.
thats about the only way you'll see something like that, unless of course your talking about a sunbeam tiger, they were british and had 289's in them, and were fast as hell, kind of looked like a fiat.
Joe Harrison Jan 21st, 06, 08:31 AM Might be a Sunbeam Tiger. If so these were produced at the factory with Ford Small blocks.
There's a company in California that puts Ford 302 motors in Miatas and they call them Monster Miatas....Whole lotta power for a 1500 lb car!
???????????

 Had never heard of them, but seems like they do exist, at least with a wimpy 1.2 lt. engine. If hybrid were the way to go, I'd prefer a girly Miata, with an 03 S/C Cobra engine and it's matching 6 speed. Down here we have TONS of hybrids. One I like is my friend William's 76 Dodge Colt, with a 4 cyl. Turbo Nissan Sylvia engine. He's doing 11.7 in the 1/4, with radial tires, and uses it everyday to work at my work site. It's funny, there's this other co worker also called William, who owns a Mitsubishi Evolution Turbo, and the guy in the Colt is always inviting him to the strip, and for thousands of reason, he never appears at the strip.

Midlife Cruiser Jan 21st, 06, 10:17 PM I owned a Fiat once. Got rid of it after I figured out what Fiat stood for:
