Well it has been a long time since I have been active here. I have been gone for almost 2 years from home due to deployments and had lost my drive to do anything. I was even thinking about selling my 67. But, I have had a renewed interest and hope to finish my plan with the car.

Jerry;
Welcome back :hurray:
Glad to hear you've returned unharmed and are getting back into your Camaro project.
I'll be looking forward to hearing your input in the forums again :thumbsup:

Glad to have you back.
I have a friend who just got back in October and for two months I had trouble getting him to do anything. That crap really takes a toll on you mentally. He's slowly getting back to his old self and is actually talking about doing some remodeling on his house.
I think restoring a Camaro could be very theraputic.

Thanks guys, already told we are going back March of 07. I am hoping that things change and we are postponed.

The wife bought me a new roll-away tool chest tonight, the one they sell at Sam's club, big tall stainless steel one. Pretty sweet. I'll get the garage squared away again, and get to work on the car. Battery is flat, looks like the Autozone warranty will be put to use.

I meant no disrespect. The "crap" I was referring to was wondering if a rocket was going to blow you to pieces or a roadside bomb was going to take out half of the convoy or a sniper pick you off. I'm a veteran myself so I know first hand what that crap is all about. My hat's off to the people who defend this country. I've had three good friends get deployed in the past few years and all their families were given my number to call if they needed anything. I looked after the first one's car repair business while he was gone. I helped the second one's wife with a flooded basement and some remodeling. I helped the third replace his sidewalk and curb while he was gone so the street could be repaved. I felt it was my duty and I was proud to do it.

I'm a veteran too, and I normally let people (even my friends) say just about whatever they want when they discuss the "situation." I apologize if I seemed like I was getting short about it. I have a few friends (and my old unit) over there, and I worry about them, even though they are highly skilled at what they do. Take care, and again, I meant no disrespect towards you either. I was probably having some type of moment. :)

Rick,
Yes my wife and I actually are living together again after 2 years apart. She got back last March with 1st Cvalry Division. She is suppose to start clearing March 9th, and be on terminal leave the 28th. Her unit is going back in August and the Stoploss is in effect for her unit starting in May. She should be good since she is on terminal leave, but her "actual" out date is after the stoploss date......we are hoping and praying things dont change, otherwise she will be stoplossed and go to Iraq again, then I will go again next year and next thing you know we are on back to back rotations away from each other for 2 years again.

Welcome back. I have a friend that told me for years to hold on to my car even though it just sat in storage. I was busy with lots of different things and hardly touched it for 15 years. Well I'm glad that I kept it. I have had renewed interest and have been actively restoring it for about a year.

I would recommend to anyone that if you were ever really interested in a particular car, don't sell it. The passion will likely return and you will regret getting rid of it.

I still wish that I hadn't sold my 1st car - 1 p.o.s. '67 Dart GT...

Jerry, welcome back. I know exactly what you are going through. I am currently on my 4th 90 day deployment in 2 1/2 years (not including other TDYs). I am a MC-130E Flight Engineer and have spent too much time in OEF and OIF. I get back at the end of next month and I just found out today that I am supposed to come back again this June. YEAH?!?!?! My wife is also in the military (AF) and it is hard having young kids (my daughters are 3 and 5). It really sucks missing out on alot with the kids. Luckily, we are not getting shot at as much this go around. Hang with it and try not to sell it or anything without thinking about it.

Welcome back, it didnt take long to get back into it. Once you get a few beers in you the creative juices start flowing again. I have to leave again in August. Not going to the desert this time. One year tour in Korea.
Thank god....I hate the desert.
