Took the 6 cyl front springs out because the car sat up too high, here`s a before picture:

Put trimmed Moroso springs in to get the nose down where it needs to be...looks better too, check it out:

The daytime temps yesterday were in the low 80`s.
By the time we made some passes it was 73-74 degrees with the humidity rolling on pretty hard as the evening progressed, literally dripping off the cars which is typical in the swamps.

New best: 10.17 ET @ 132.06 MPH also had our best 60' at this track with a 1.40 ET on that run.

Now the twist...
We put the street tires back on..BFG radial TA`s on the front.
Mickey T 275-60 Drag Radials on the back.

Pulled the air pan off and put the air cleaner back on, getting the car ready for the usual drive home.

Just for fun we pulled the car back into the lanes to make a pass in total street trim just to see how it would run.

It ran it`s best EVER to date! ..10.11 ET @ 133.11 MPH

at the 1/8th mark it ran 6.43 ET @ 107.23 MPH

Drove over to the scales and weighed it...3535 Lbs.

Those MT radials work!

Do you have an Annular carb? They are real bad about scoops and pans causing problems. It may just be lean.

What was the 60 foot with the DR's?

Doug G..Thank you much...still waiting for winter here :(

how much did you guys trim off the spring to get it at that height?
by the way, very nice times. yes those m/t drag radials do work. a buddy went 8.70 in the 1/4 in his camaro on them. and there where quite a few of the psca drag radial cars standing 'em on the bumpers in vegas last year.

Nice times. The M/T tires work very well. I have the ET streets and love them. I too am curious how much you cut off the springs? My car had a bb and now I'm going with a sb and it sits like yours in the first picture.

Can you post a picture of the air pan.

The Air Pan design might be a drastic negative, and while it may just be lean as Oger mentioned. If the design is not correct it may cause an effect you arent looking for.

I've dealt with one car in particular that didnt have a scoop, instead a cut-out in the hood for it to breathe.

The bad part about this is that the air stream over the hood actually pulled the fuel out of the Hilborne style injects.

Similar to the air stream effect of the venturi in a Holley Carb. its the Air Stream flowing through the venturi which causes a low pressure area that the gas flows into.

If your design doesnt close off the back, or the front of the Hood (i dont know which area your using as the "intake" side.) It may have the same effect.

Sounds good to me Big, wish you guys could get better weather - it will go 9s in cold weather.
Since you were running without an air filter the carb may have been seeing turbulence
from the air coming into the air pan. I'd try to run it with a good air filter in place and w/ the air pan.
Also what front tire are you guys runnin in race trim?

The increase in mph could be due to the decreased rolling resistance of the drag radials!

As my car runs somewhat similar to your Camaro, I'm tempted to try a set of the M/T Drag Radials.

Good numbers and nice car!
Pump gas?

68 rs/cragger:
The springs were cut just shy of 1-1/2 turns. It`s alittle "touchy" sometimes on the street but no big deal.

DragFab:
The air pan is fed from the cowl, we`ve run with and without it can`t say it makes any difference, but it`s been awhile.
Next time out I`ll check to see if it helps or not.

67RS:
I don`t think turbulence is an issue with this hood it`s one of those Harwoods that actually has two screens built into it about 1" apart (front-back)

Ron:
I agree and yes 93 octane, race gas is waste on this deal.
thanks guys

Somewhere, somehow, something`s wrong here!

Crossing @ 6800 RPM at the end with a 28" bias ply slick with 3.73 gears @ 133 MPH is way off.

It`s either the transmission or the converter.

With a slippage factor of 15% showing up now, we`re going to cover both bases.

With slightly over 250 passes and a few thousand street miles on the setup it`s time...

So, the converter is going back to ATI to be rebuilt and the transmission is going back to JW for the same.

Will post the results shortly...
