I'm wiring a camaro with one of the aftermarket harness kits. For the dome light there is 1 orange wire. The dome light itself has a white and an orange wire comming off of it. Which one do I hook up the new orange to and where does the other wire go to? Thanks, John

You need both wires to hook up the dome light. At the end of each wire will be a clip. You put a clip on each side of the bulb to complete the circuit.
I THOUGHT that the orange was the hot wire, and the white was the ground. Somebody should chime in to CONFIRM.
What ever you do be careful. In my console (which also had wiring for a "dome light" bulb), the two wires accidentally crossed b/c I had no bulb hooked up. My car nearly caught on fire. I only found it after I walked into my garage, and smelled smoke. As I searched in my car I actually saw smoke coming out of the console.

The orange wire is the hot wire and the white wire gets connected to the door jam and headlight switches. The white wire grounds the dome light.

My diagram might help you visualize how it's wired.

The only "dome" lights on a vert are 2 small lights that plug into brackets in the bottom of the dash corners, and at the back of the console if it has one. The console light wiring is built into the harness, as is the feed to the right kick panel. There is a plug there where the auxiliary harness plugs in. The auxiliary harness for a vert has wire for the 2 bulbs and the white wires for both switches.
The harness routes at the top of the dash, fastens to clips under the dash pad. The second wire for the drivers side switch (for the key buzzer) is not part of this harness.
The pass side switch has a bullet connector, and the new switches as sold by Rick's don't fit. The drivers side has 2 spade connectors separated by an insulator. If the insulator breaks off, wierd things happen. The repro switch fits.
This is detailed on page 167 of the AIM (wire routing) and page 175 (12000 series {convertible} wiring)
