Ford now will not allow a non Ford related vehicle to park in the lots close to the plants. It is still possible to bring other cars to work, but you just have to park them in further out lots. As we loose jobs to foreign manufacturers, be it automobiles, steel, copper, ship building, etc. I applaud Ford for this small step. Please lets not get mentally irregular with comments, I would hate to see this thread shut down!

Old news, different auto maker... In May 2005 DaimlerChrysler did the same thing...

Well, let's see. If we make the non-Ford owners walk farther, they will than lose some weight and save on health care. Yeah! that will save the company some money!

Hate to be sarcastic, but makes no sense to me. Sorry.....

I could be way of here but to me this seems like a discriminatory pratice and it would not take too long before someone contacts a lawyer and files sute

About 10 years ago I was recomended to William Sr., by the aircraft manufacturer, for a Director of Maintenance position maintaining his new aircraft. I was happy where I was at the time and elected not to pursue this, but I have often wondered what the fallout would have been had I reported to work for him in a 68 or 69 Camaro. I figured it would not have been too drastic, but reading this maybe I'm wrong.

We have had this in place at the k.c. Ford plant for about 6 months now.I drive a beater berreta to work and park out back so my f250 does not get the paint fallout all over it and it gets better gas mileage too.The only problem I had with it is that we do have foreign cars that park in the front lot because ford owns the company that makes it. These cars cant park in the union lot but get good parking at the plant.I own 2 ford vehicles that I wont drive to the plant so they don't get beat up and get paint spots on them.My camaro's are my true love and they have nothing to do with market share!

This is the kind of corporate (il)logic that will soon have Ford looking up at all of their competitors. Have they tried to understand why even their own employees won't drive them? The whole market is too global now to try to make a statement this way. Hope they're prepared in the next couple of years when China starts dumping cars in the US at prices that will make a Kia seem expensive. Quality and value, how can this concept be any simpler? We don't care where a car is made, just give us what we want.

BTW, my Mazda was built in Flint Michigan, while my old Silverado was built in Ontario. I think the 'foreign' car makers even employ more autoworkers in this country than the 'domestic' car makers. Sheesh! Let's just worry about making a decent automobile.

Yeah they will polish the gray specks off you car if you put in a request. But only once every 3 years.EPA comes out and does tests on the stacks all the time but they are within spec.New notice was posted this week that rules will be strictly enforced and towing will comence after one warning.

GM's old Fisherbody Plant in Hamilton/Fairfield Ohio use to have that policy and that was years ago, so this is nothing new. As a side note, you'd think that you'd at least want to buy a product made from the company you work for anyway.

Since they get a big discount for the cars they assemble, I would think it would at least make economic since to by these cars.
Driving these cars is a form of advertising. Why advertise for the competition?
Wouldn’t it make sense to drive the cars as a form of quality control? I would think the feed back would be useful.

I would have to question the loyalty of an employee that didn’t think the product they are building was good enough for them. I wonder if the union made a car would the union have a negative view of an employee not buying their product.

The last 3 American cars that I have purchased new have been good cars. I have purchased Toyotas in the past and they have not been any better made or more reliable.

I believe any other industry, or company wouldn’t put up with employee disloyalty as they do with these unions. They act like spoiled children with a screw them attitude because they know the union will protect them.

Imagine if all the employees at Microsoft traded their computers in for Mac’s. I don’t think that would go over too well.

All the NEW vehicles I have purchase have been new Fords and I would not consider buying anything else. When you buy a beater for work you buy what you think is the best deal for the money. Most(not all) of the cars in the non Ford parking are older used cars.I believe most all cars are pretty equal in quality now days everyone ha a lemon on occasion.

I drove my 1985 dodge ram 4x4 to gm proving grounds one day .When i came out after work I found a large envelope on the windshield .Inside was packed full of documents ..they wanted to purchase the truck so they could test it against there own products which eventullay would have been a complete tear down for inspection.of course back them i was a mopar guy and refused to sell it.I never had any problems parking it there in the main lot close to the entrance

I have a buddy that worked at the Hamilton plant until GM shut it down, he spent his last 7 years driving 70 miles each way to work at the Moraine plant in Dayton.

Does that mean I can't park my Volvo or Jag at the nearby Ford plant?

The way I understood it, any car in the Ford family is welcome. So I guess you would be OK. Please post photos of your Jag & Volvo we would like to see them next to your Camaro!
