I have a 67 SS Camaro that I am currently cleaning up the engine compartment. I am planning to use the factory heater core cover to house my coil and rev limiter. I will make a modification to be able to remove the cover, without removing the fender.
Now, my big hang up. This is a fair weather only car and it is not stock original. I am planning on leaving the wiper motor off, to clean up the firewall. I am going to tack a plate in place of the motor and bondo over it. I want to make the changes reversible, just in case. My next delimna is whether to actually remove the wipers and smooth over the holes in the cowl, or leave the wipers themselves alone. What would you do?

Don't you have safety inspections? Won't pass without wipers.

I would have a replacement cowl in hand before I filled in the holes on the original. (Bird in hand worth two on back order)

not sure about the inspection thing, we have none here, but...
Just yesterday I was checking out a sweet 67 pt car in a mag... it had a smoothed firewall that looked great... and 2 empty wiper "thingy's" sticking out in front of the windshield. Looked cheesy as hell. I'd just keep the wipers, never know when it will rain.

I appreciate the feedback. I have had this car for about 10 years and never really had a strong need for the wipers. I have driven in rain a few times but as long as you are moving, it is fine.
I would definitely do the modification of the cowl piece to a new one and leave the original alone. I want to make it easy to undo, if the need ever arises.
FYI - we do not have inspections.

if you just dont like the look of the big honking factory motor, you could get this kit from DSE, even has intermitant settings

Its your car and you can do what you want to to it however i know what i wouldn't do and thats bondo the firewall up around the wiper motor like you mentioned, its simple to fabricate a cover for the hole and fasten it into place without bondo, but on the other hand ifs its a full fledge racecar go for it. Just my 2cents

I like the DSE kit, may have to consider that! I have thought about just making a plate for the hole, but I think it would be much cleaner to bondo it smooth with the rest of the firewall.
It's a fair weather driver. I probably drive the car a 100 miles a year, if I am lucky, mixed in with a few car shows.
