I have been told to take a lot of pictures of my new project. What exactly should I be taking pictures of? Thanks.

lets first assume you are using digital camera and know how to use the close up feature too.. as Chris said, every area, multiple angles. Ive got over 300 pics of my car going thru various projects Ive done on it and yet I find a time I wish had taken more. Get good lights hanging around and under the car, get on the creeper under it, reach the camera up inside the trunk and hold it up under the dash and just snap away. If you begin a project, like detailing the trunk, take more pics AGAIN, and as you progress, stop and snap some progress pics. You will NEVER have enough pics when you start to put things back together. Be creative with angles, and reaching with the camera, its free so use it and download them into a master folder with sub folders so you can find the pics when you want too.
Take a pic of the Mrs. in the car seat too, let her be involved and it will be easier buying new parts :)

Just as clwilcox, EVERY possible angle...
Here is how I do my teardown pictures,
Remember those yellow sewing tapes your grandmother use to use? They would roll up to about the size of a .50 cent piece? Go buy 4 or 5 of those from wall-mart, (I mean a sewing shop)There great, you can tape them along the fenders, doors, engine compartment etc.
If the car is getting torn down, You can tape it to the car and use a magic marker and write notes on the car so they are there in you photographs.
You cannot have to many pictures.... I swear you will think you got everything photo, and the first thing you need to look at you didnt take that.
then store them in a pictures folder marked- say (1969 X44 COPO) If thats what you got!!! Then make sub folders for every area, Front left fender and etc. and so on and so on. Before you know, you can find any picture in seconds. Just start off doing it right, because it takes for ever to orginize once you got 3-4 hundred pictures.. Good luck....
