A buddy found a 69 SS 350 X11 all original car for me. It is a high option car and has all original parts on it. The pait is Rallye Green #79 with a parchment vinyl top. The engine has been rebuilt but has original engine and tranny. Has original cowl working hood, interior is white 727 and perfect, electric windows, cruise control, air conditioning. Engine compartment is really solid. Everything is functional on it. The guy bought it in South Dakota last fall. The guy is asking 34500 for it. He doesnt have the build sheet on it but it is a friend of a friend who has 6 vettes and a couple other camaros so he definately is a car guy. What other questions should I ask him?
I have pics but I dont see where you can just attach the pic like on other forums??

Hey guys,
Am I correct in saying that while an X11 car had the "style group" options, it is not a real SS car? I thought only X55 cars were SS 350's. Correct? Again, I am just seeking clarification for understanding. Thanks

*There is no specific X-code for the SS350. X11 could mean SS350 with Style Trim or a base Camaro with Style Trim. A '69 SS required at least power front disc brakes. Also be sure to check out our FAQ section about SS's.

It does have 12 bolt, front power disk brakes, bumper guards front and back, tilt wheel, guage cluster.

jere just so you know, the cruise control was added by the dealer, it was not offered from the factory in 69. The valve covers are from a Z28. Have you seen the block numbers and tranny numbers yourself or pics of them in place?
The trunk white stripe is painted all the way down under the spoiler and down the lip of the trunk, accurate stripes finish under the spoiler and are not visible on the lip. Not a big issue but just something I noticed.
Can you see if there is the dual exhaust hanger plate (3x5) welded to the drivers side frame rail behind the tire at about 1 o'clock? That would indicate original dual exhaust. The radiator to fender braces are chrome in the pics, should be black but thats easy to paint up. Are there 2 or just 1 fuel lines going to the fuel pump?
It sure appears to be a nice resto job tho :)

Thanks for the info Jim. I will get my buddy to snap some pics of the engine codes. The owner now ran the #'s on the engine, tranny, and rearend before he purchased the car last fall and said they all were legit. I will try to get more info on that. Anything else I should look for??
You guys think this is worth 34K? I would think it is if it is all #'s matching dont you guys?

[QUOTE=jerebus67]*There is no specific X-code for the SS350.

X55 =Base car SS 350

X22=Big Block w/style trim
X66=Base car Big block

If nothing is restamped, and it looks as good in person as it does in the pics, then they might get $34k for it. Id want to see pics of their resto process, what did rear window frame look like before resto? Any body putty (bondo) anywhere? I also noticed chrome differential cover, should be black but again thats an easy fix, I had to replace mine too. Was wiring redone? Alt. rebuilt? Is it original? A/C compressor was it converted to R34 freon? pressure tested? Body bushings? replaced during resto? Leaf springs, new?
If the previous owner 'ran the number'? Where did he 'run' them? Still post all the VIN and tranny and engine and rear end numbers here as it gets picked up by CRG as well.

The owner states that valve covers originally came on the 350 300HP and Z28
Can anyone confirm this?

2 members here had posts I found using the 'search' and typing in 'valve covers'.
The original valve covers for the 1969 350/300hp L48 were the steel painted ones. The finned aluminum ones were added. The dealer could add the finned ones back then and call it an engine dress up package to make a few extra bucks.

another member said: 69 SS did not originaly get finned valve covers.
69-Z/28's and 69-350/350 L-46 Corvettes have them for 69. That is the only way to have them from the factory for that year.
