After seeing the car in photos for the first time, many things did come as a shock. The grille resembles anything but a Camaro, and the Rear looks like it was taken right off a Corvette.
That being said, this car is gorgeous. Anyone who says otherwise is just upset it isnt a closer replica of the 1st Generation. Yeah they look great, but the suspensions were horrid, the car was heavy, and this big motors chugged down the gas.
Sure they were powerful, but that is not enough anymore. It's not 1966, its 2006.
This car is made to fit the new crowd and appeal to everyone, not just die hard Camaro fans, but to an all new array of people.
I wont make my final decision until I see this Camaro in life, but I dont think it's going to dissapoint.
One more thing, and this is a comment to a thread I read earlier.
The retro thing is cool, but how long will it last? Don't get me wrong, the new muscle cars are music to my ears, but in the future where will it go? The new mustang will get old quicker than some people might think. And the new challenger ( which I like ) looks exactly like the one 35 years ago.
I like the new look and what GM has done with the car. It certainly isn't perfect, but i think its a couple steps ahead of the Mustang, and it's LS2 gets 30Mpg and has 400 HP. Does your 1967 Tin Can, that cost 40K to restore do that? Does it take corners alongside the best cars in the world? Bring on the new look, bring on the new formula, and bring back my baby...

You are missing the point of doing a retro Camaro..Put the LS2 etc in it. Put todays technology in a retro Camaro.

new cars should be new looking, if you like the classy look then restore one.....

If the retro look is supposedly so hot, why not leave the basic body style as it is on the concept Camaro, but put a retro RS grill, retro tail lights, smooth out the roof, and you have a winner!! I don't buy that the retro look will be out of fashion in a couple of years, but if it is, it would be very easy to just change the grill, tail lights to adapt back to a more modern look. This is not rocket science, but they can't wait 3 more years for a release! They have to get this into the showrooms for fall of 2007 or sooner, or IMHO the boat will be missed.

The first gen Camaros were some of the best looking American cars in history (in my opinion of course). The Concept Camaro could easily go some more in that direction (bodywise) without being a direct copy. If so, I predict solid sales. The third and fourth gen didn't look very much like first gen, so a strong classic look would be new and fresh to many potential buyers.
