I have an opportunity to buy a 1970 Z28, and wanted some feedback on what you guys think it might be worth. No engine, but has 4 spd, and 12 bolt. Paint is aweful, but the body is generally ok(no holes). Has a fiberglass cowl hood:angry: and was drag raced/ hot rodded when it was still run. Has been sitting for about 10 years now. Interior is ok except for carpet, non original wheels, and dry rot tires. No mods to the subframe that Ive seen yet, but Im going back to look at it again. what do you think the value of this car is?

First, you need to make sure it's a real Z28 and not a clone. Did you check the trim tag to verify it's a Z28? I see it has the 12 bolt which is a good sign. Look for the floor mounted gas pedal as well. Check the rear frame rails for rust too. As long as it is a real Z28 then it's probably worth $5-10K but it really depends on how much work it will take to bring it back to original condition.

Its a real Z... according to trim tag. I sold my last 70Z for 12k, and it was restored. This car in its current state would need about 5-7000 to restore with me painting the car and using a spare LT-1 and other parts I already have. I am trying to decide between this car and an 85 4spd corvette that is good to go. I LOVE the 70Z, the only reason I sold my last one was to get a 61 vette. But if the price is right, Ill definetly pick this one up. Its just restoring a car is a huge undertaking, and not something to be taken lightly.
